"Whatever dark power Trump has that has enabled him to become president twice while being quite literally one of the most morally despicable human beings on Earth, it’s not easily duplicated by your average Republican candidate for Senate, House, or governor. When candidates like Vivek Ramaswamy ask 'What would Trump do?' then do that thing, they often find that the voters respond with, 'What an atrocious jerk. I’m definitely not voting for that guy.'" publicnotice.co/p/vivek-rama…

"When President Trump plucked Katie Zacharia from obscurity and appointed her as his new press secretary, he called her 'an attorney.' This is also how Zacharia, repeatedly and publicly, describes herself. Yet, there is no evidence that Zacharia ever passed a bar exam or has been admitted to practice law in any state. Popular Information searched for evidence in all 50 states, plus DC, that Zacharia was admitted to practice law anywhere — and found none." popular.info/p/trumps-new-pr…

I just checked and they accidentally spent double digit figures on anti Troy Jackson ads running exclusively in OREGON. This is not a joke, I have the receipts.
I’ve gotten 5 anti-Troy Jackson ads in the last 24 hours. I choose to believe they mixed up Portlands.

I’ve recently gotten to know @A1ex_MacArthur who is a great young writer. Here’s his latest: “If Bolsonaro’s son Flávio beats Lula in the presidential election, he will encounter much less resistance from state institutions.” jacobin.com/2026/10/brazil-e…

"I'm not defending Hitler, but..."
Tucker Carlson defends Hitler’s decision to invade Poland, arguing that Britain shouldn’t have fought the Nazis: “The UK had nothing to do with it, at all, and they destroyed their empire and their country fighting this war that they still pretend was a good idea, but it wasn’t”

Friendly note to academic job applicants: Be careful when converting Word files to pdfs. I have seen several cases this year where pdfs inadvertently included "Comments" that advisors, colleagues and friends made on draft materials.

I didn't read these comments, and I suspect in most cases it wouldn't be a big deal if I had done so. Still, better to delete the comments before converting to pdf.
