Todd was a hero for millions of Reds fans.
I later came to know him as a wonderful man, father and coach.
The first baseball practice my son Jack ever attended, we arrived early. Todd approached us and showed Jack how to field ground balls. Starstruck, I had to explain just how special that was.
Please keep his family in our prayers.
The Cincinnati Reds are saddened by the passing of former first baseman and 1990 World Series champion Todd Benzinger.
Todd will be remembered with great affection and gratitude for his place in one of the most memorable chapters in Reds history. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, former teammates and all who knew and loved him.
