I have a Neurosurgical Oncology Fellowship open for this July. With 9 OR rooms five days a week a 36 bed NICU l, we are state-of-the-art. We have a 3T intraoperative MRI scanner, two 4K integrated endoscopy suites, numerous robotics and more. Email dbaskin@houstonmethodist.org
A pleasure to serve as faculty for Houston Methodist’s ENT Skull Base Course. Outstanding lectures followed by hands-on cadaver dissections with an exceptional group of residents. The future of skull base surgery is bright! Thanks to Drs. Ahmed & Takashima for a terrific course.
Honored to present endoscopic skull base surgery at the Apple Healthcare Summit at Apple Park with Houston Methodist & STORZ, using Apple Vision Pro. 35 cases: reduced OR time, better ergonomics, true 4K clarity & no complications. The future of surgery is here
I presented our work with the Apple Vision Pro for Skull Base Surgery at Houston Methodist-it was well received by the audience of over 250 medical professionals, including students, faculty, & private practitioners. Many thanks to Kore Liow MD for a great meeting.
It was a great honor to participate as a judge and a speaker at the 17th Annual Neuroscience Symposium in Hawaii. Hawaii Governor Josh Green MD was present (to my right in the picture). He gave an inspirational speech and was incredibly supportive of & engaged with the student
Excited about the use of Apple Vision Pro for endoscopic skull base surgery. After Performing over 5000 endoscopic surgeries, this is an amazing massive upgrade. Truly immersive surgery where one feels like you’re inside the brain walking around and doing the operation!
One of my recent articles published in Frontiers in Oncology just reached a new impact milestone. Spectroscopy is a new way to evaluate tumors and may provide important therapeutic strategies. Here is the link if you would like to read our research: frontiersin.org/article/1651…
Excited about our new publication regarding the use of MRI spectroscopy in glioblastoma. This opens a new field of investigation and provides novel targets for treatment.

Excited about our new publication examining metabolomic changes in glioblastoma. This opens anew way to look at these tumors and also new targets for treatment frontiersin.org/journals/onc…
Excited about the role of MRI spectroscopy in further characterizing the nature of tumors and identifying novel targets. This article just published, illustrates how much one can learn from this technique. urldefense.com/v3/__links.em…$
I am very excited about our new technology, oncomagnetics, which is a new non-invasive way to treat glioblastoma. This also appears to work in other cancers. Imagine cancer treatment with less or no chemotherapy or radiation. This is a future possibility! piped.video/747aIVgi8MU
It was an honor to be a judge & plenary speaker for this Neuroscience symposium. Brilliant students with incredible projects competed for prizes. There were wonderful speakers from Hawaii. Dean Shoemaker from the Medical school was also a participant & supportive of the efforts.
Congratulations to our three new Neurosurgery residents, Zeru Asfaw, Grant Koskay, and Shalin Shaw.
They are outstanding applicants and we are excited to have them start in July. We are blessed to have matched three residents who will likely be neurosurgical superstars!
Gratitude on Thanksgiving. I am so grateful to Houston Methodist Hospital for providing all of the resources to make something like this happen. It was only possible because of the efforts of many people.

It was a honor to be a judge at the Neuroscience symposium competition in Kaneohe Hawaii. Hawaii Medical students submitted 40 different abstracts! Governor Josh Green, MD, to my left participated. He is a fantastic human being with great compassion for all Hawaiians.
I am proud of our Laboratory who is delving into the metabolism of brain cancer. Metabolomics is a new and exciting field that may revolutionize therapeutic interventions. Identifying unique tumor metabolism provides new targets for treatment.

I am so proud of our women in Neurosurgery. They are incredibly talented residents and are all going to be superstars! All of our faculty are privileged to work with them.
It was an honor to present the work done at the Peak Brain Tumor Center in the Department of Neurosurgery at Houston Methodist Hospital at the Congress of Neurological Surgery meeting in Houston. Congratulations to our researchers, scientists, donors, and staff!
