The hardest lesson NFL MVP Steve Young ever had to learn. "Fear-based thinking is a liar. I was afraid of failure, so much so that I paid this price so that I could have success. I learned as an older person, that's a fallacy. That's fraudulent." "I'm not going to pay for success with my worry and fretting. Man, fame is a thief. Fear-based thinking is a thief. There's a lot of thieves in life."

Yesterday Daytona announced funding at a $1B valuation. I sat down with CEO @ivanburazin to talk building the infrastructure AI agents run on. We covered why every agent needs a computer, why his team doesn't write code by hand anymore, and the GPU wars. Winning the battle means little if you lose the war (Pyrrhic victory) The 5 Types of Wealth author @SahilBloom explains it with King Pyrrhus: “It is the idea of a victory that comes at such a steep cost to the victor that it might as well have been a defeat.” “You’ve made hundreds of millions, billions of dollars. Everyone celebrates you and admires you. But ignores the fact that you have four divorces and five kids that don’t talk to you. That you’re deeply unhealthy. That you’re lonely.” “...make sure that you are deciding what your success or your wealthy life actually looks like.”

I know for a fact these numbers are wrong. They’re mathematically impossible. I personally know two donors whose contributions alone would put us at double the reported spend. And that doesn’t even include the likely 20–30 others who contribute big dollars each year. Whoever told you this either lied or is spreading a false, negative narrative. Our athletics have never been in a better spot. Why is someone pushing this message right now? 🤔 It takes a village and everyone has the same goal. Let’s all push in the same direction together! Go Cougs! 💙💙💙
Remember when Kalani was frustrated about resources? Word on the street is that Kalani had verbal commitments from 2 Ohio State receivers and a Tennessee lineman. But when they went to check the funds, Brian Santiago had moved $8 million from football to basketball without informing the program. As a result, they weren't able to pay the recruits what they thought they could and lost them. During the last transfer portal, Ohio St lost six wide receivers including 4 and 5⭐ recruits, and Tennessee lost six OLinemen. It's very likely that, without Brian Santiago, those players would have been playing for BYU this year.

Life's hardest moments shape who you become. My brother Brandt Andersen (Hollywood producer: Lone Survivor & Everest) on why he no longer runs from hard things: "No great sculpture's been made out of clay. They're all made out of stone." "I don't run from the things that are hard anymore. When I get stuck in something hard now, I'm like, 'Let's do it.'" "And I had to climb my own way out. But having done that, I'm now good at getting out of it."

First person I saw after jumping the field fence was @bsant25_. He gave me the biggest emotional hug anyone has ever given me. Brian is so ALL IN on BYU Football. He is the reason the game happened at all - see below. Heal the wounds, show him some love, we’re one great team
FAW - FIND A WAY! Could not be more proud of the way our players and staff battled on a MASSIVE stage!! And Cougar Nation… We couldn’t have done it without you. See you in Orlando!

Almost nothing as rewarding as seeing friends get recognition for their great work. The weekend may have cost these two a few bucks, but the spotlight on Ryan Smith and Ryan “Sweeney” couldn’t be on better people. BYU and Notre Dame are lucky to have them.

Faith takes courage. I asked @AndersenNeilL what he’d tell someone who feels like God isn’t speaking to them anymore: “For someone to get down on his or her knees and say words to unseen God, that takes a little bit of courage. To open up the Bible to read the words of Jesus Christ, that takes courage.” “For someone to say, I’m going to go back and sit in the pew and listen to the pastor or listen to the priest, and I’m going to think about these things deeply. I’m going to associate with people who believe.” “You can regenerate your trust in God. I’ve seen it a thousand times. I’ve seen it tens of thousands of times.”

The true definition of success = doing what you love. Netflix co-founder @marcrandolph said it this way: “If you can spend your life doing something that you really love doing and that you’re good at, you’ve made it.” “What I... believe I have imprinted on my children was not about entrepreneurship and tech. It’s about dad loved going to work.” “I’ve never not wanted to go to work in the morning. And the fact that I managed to do that for 45 years, wow. I can’t ask for more than that.”

Everyone knows @RyanQualtrics but not as many know his partner @ryanjsweeney. He’s one of Silicon Valley’s best investors, Jazz/Mammoth co-owner, and a great person. Game today doesn’t happen without his efforts.
