for ETH folks monitoring Solana TPS. a note. Solana's public Transactions Per Second (TPS) dashboards will look like they crashed or collapsed. This is just an accounting change. Under the old TowerBFT system, validators cast their votes by sending actual transactions on the blockchain, which made up roughly 60% of all recorded TPS. Alpenglow moves validator voting entirely off-chain via a new protocol called Votor. User transaction throughput remains completely unaffected, even though the reported data changes.

if ur staking w/ a validator who doesn't migrate to Alpenglow. The most immediate risk to your yield comes from validator readiness. To participate in Alpenglow, validators must pay a flat Validator Admission Ticket (VAT) fee of 0.8 SOL at the start of each epoch to be allowed to vote in the next. If your chosen validator fails to upgrade their client software or doesn't keep a sufficient SOL balance to pay this fee, they will be completely barred from voting and producing blocks for the next epoch. If they are locked out, you will earn zero staking rewards for that entire epoch. Roughly 20% of staked SOL was still sitting with unready validators right before launch, so checking your validator's status is critical.

To see what a typical American actually has saved, the median balance (the exact midpoint of all accounts) paints a very different picture. For example, while Vanguard's average is $167,970, their median balance is only $44,115. Furthermore, because of expanded automatic enrollment over the past decade, a flood of new, younger workers have entered plans with $0 balances, keeping the true median account growth relatively flat over the 10-year span. The best metric for tracking true 10-year growth is looking at individuals who have steadily contributed to the same account without stopping. According to Fidelity's data, workers who have saved continuously for the last 10 straight years boast an average balance of $501,800.

The 10-Year Trajectory (Historical Milestones) 2016–2019 (Steady Bull Market): Balances grew at a stable pace alongside a healthy economy, with national averages hovering around $92,000 to $105,000. 2021–2022 (The Pandemic Spike & Inflation Correction): Post-pandemic fiscal stimulus and retail trading booms pushed averages past $130,000. However, the severe market downturn in late 2022 briefly dragged balances down by roughly 20%. 2024–2026 (The Record Surge): Fueled by massive growth in tech and artificial intelligence sectors, retirement balances hit historic highs. Despite brief dips from geopolitical volatility (like a 4% market drop in early 2026), strong market returns pushed the baseline to its current record territory.

Fidelity Investments (the nation's largest provider) reports an average 401(k) balance of $155,800. This is up roughly 61% from their average of $96,000 back in Q1 2016.

The Middle Class: For the middle 40% of Americans, raw retirement assets grew due to market performance, with average 401(k) balances rising from $127,100 at the start of the term to $155,800 by mid-2026. However, their overall share of the national wealth pie actually shrunk slightly (falling to 28.8%) as the ultra-wealthy pulled further ahead.

The Bottom 50%: The least-wealthy half of the country also saw an increase in wealth, but at a much smaller scale. Collectively, the bottom 50% gained $380 billion. This translates to a modest average net worth improvement of $5,600 per household.
3
The Ultra-Wealthy (Top 0.1%): This group has been the primary driver and beneficiary of the wealth boom. In the 18 months following Trump's return to office, the net worth of the top 0.1% of households increased by $5.5 trillion. On an individual basis, that averages out to a net worth gain of roughly $40.8 million per household for this elite tier.

Overall, American wealth has increased significantly during President Trump’s second term, though the gains have been heavily concentrated at the very top of the economic spectrum. According to the latest Federal Reserve and economic data from 2026, total U.S. household wealth jumped by roughly 16.5%—adding about $26 trillion in absolute terms.

The FBI formally established a dedicated, centralized nerve center for cryptocurrency crimes in February 2022. Named the Virtual Assets Unit (VAU) (initially announced as the Virtual Asset Exploitation Unit), it was formed under President Joe Biden. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco announced its launch following the DOJ's massive $3.6 billion seizure of Bitcoin stolen in the 2016 Bitfinex exchange hack.

hide ur crypto. Trump trying to "help" again. Trump and top officials like FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Todd Blanche will address cyber crime prevention, focusing on overseas networks behind fraudulent investment schemes. Americans reported over a million internet scams to the FBI last year, up 17 percent from 2024, with crypto fraud causing major financial pain—recent busts shut down 241 fake sites and 112 servers. While some in the crypto world cheer the moves, others point to the Trump family's $2.3 billion crypto gains amid similar investor losses elsewhere. The White House says all steps serve the American people.
