Dr. Dillon Martinez, Ed.D Get my book "Breaking the Speed Barrier" here: a.co/d/04CGHSkJ

I did the largest study of successful speed coaches ever done, and turned that study into a book that has been read by hundreds of coaches all over the world. Now its your turn! a.co/d/0eT9tK1m

If we in the education field want to draw in more high quality (or just any) teachers, it would serve us well to stop complaining all the time. Upon returning from a conference last week multiple of my students said they are questioning their choice of becoming a teacher based on how poorly the keynote spoke of the profession....At a future teacher conference.

@educator4ever36 I’d love to get your thoughts on this…

This is also a good thing to ask anyone (if done kindly in a non pretentious way). If they say "nothing", perhaps it will spark an interest at the very least.
“What are you reading?” Gonna start asking my kids this question on a regular basis. “Not for school. For you. What are ya reading for you?” Reading (still) matters.

The amount of hate the punch out has gotten over the last few years is hilarious. It's one my my favorite defensive plays of all time, and it has been truly incredible to see how good players have gotten at it.
K’Lavon Chaisson With A Great Punch Out On Christian McCaffrey. This Was Honestly An Insane Forced Fumble, And It Was Picked Up By The Commanders Big-Time Turnover. The Commanders Edge Rusher Knocks The Ball Free From CMC And Washington Comes Up With The Recovery To Flip The Momentum. Turnover. 🔥

This would be a smart move. As it sits, IDEA is woefully inadequate and out of date…
Here’s my idea to start to figure out our Special Education crisis. First, let’s make two completely different categories of disability, one being academically focused, the other being behavioral/mental health focus. Of course there’s some overlap but that we identify and place both under the EXACT same processes makes zero sense anymore. We need a separate process and separate staffing to handle each. We need new legislation that addresses the difference because currently a child with a reading disability has the same exact path and rights as the child who destroys a class and hits students as a disability. Both students should have completely different programs, placements, and rights. By placing EVERY identified disability under the same umbrellas we’ve really messed things up. By specializing the policy and procedures to differentiate between cognitive and behavioral we can address each differently. Will this ever happen? Not likely, but it’s a concrete idea. I’m open for others.

It should be a prerequisite to get a teaching license to show proof you don’t have Snapchat on your phone.

1. Stop assessing only the “remember, understand, and apply” levels. 2. Allow more in class time to complete assignments so the teacher can monitor students use of tech. We as teacher tend to talk WAY more than is needed. Give students their time back.
What needs to change in high schools?

Differentiated instruction used to be nearly impossible... Now though, using AI, I teach differentiated lessons (using a UDL framework) to every class, everyday.
“Differentiated instruction” is one of the most misleading phrases in education. On paper, it sounds great. In practice, it often asks teachers to do the impossible. What education buzzword annoys you the most?

“If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you should feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. The most savage controversies are those about matters as to which there is no good evidence either way. Persecution is used in theology, not in arithmetic, because in arithmetic there is knowledge, but in theology there is only opinion. So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants.” ~Bertrand Russell, An Outline of Intellectual Rubbish

82,000 people saw this post over the last two days Two things stood out A majority seemed to agree, gave it a like, and move on The other group couldn't pass up the chance to express how soft I am, and how the emotions present in sport give them a pass for cussing at kids.
There is ZERO reason to cuss at high school athletes. Why has this been normalized? If you were to cuss at a KID in a classroom, you’d be (or should be) fired. What makes the sporting context okay? And God forbid a kid cuss at a coach. The double standard is disgraceful.

A coach who read our first book said it was the "Perfect level of nerd." In the 7 S's of the start, we are again hoping to achieve this. In addition to our own anecdotal successes for each of the 7 S's, the book cites 37 studies or books to substantiate our recommendations.

A discontent heart is infectious. The greeks even has a word for this (gongyzō). It describes discontent that festers and spreads among people. Ingratitude seems to be an innate feature of the human experience. Whereas "Autarkeia", or sufficiency, Paul says, is learned. If gratitude is a skill, it's one we should practice everyday.

if you watched the NFL and thought something didn't feel right, you're not alone: #1 most flags in over a decade thru 4 weeks, refs are impacting the most CRITICAL moments of games most: #1 most red zone penalties per game by offenses in history #1 most penalties on 3rd/4th downs in the second half of games in history and 17 touchdowns nullified by penalty! (vs only 5 in 2025 & 4 in 2024) Refs are impacting the most important moments of games unlike we've ever seen before in the NFL, and even some of the coaches are speaking up full analysis and historical data: sharpfootballanalysis.com/an…
