Hi Sayid,
Please direct us to where in this Order In Council it says that preventative health services are being expanded.
What I see is an amendment to the Alberta Health Care Insurance Act that states “preventative health testing services are not insured health services” 🤷🏻♀️
The misinformation around this is remarkable.
There is a difference between expanding choice and eliminating coverage.
This amendment does not remove physician-recommended preventative care from Alberta’s publicly funded health system. Medically necessary preventative services remain fully covered.
What has changed is simple: Albertans who choose additional preventative screening can now be reimbursed if it detects a serious medical condition.
That’s earlier detection. Faster treatment. More choice. Better outcomes. Because catching disease early is always better than treating it late.
This is exactly what prevention should look like: empowering Albertans while protecting universal public health care.
Calling expanded access “cuts” or “privatization” isn’t informing Albertans. It’s fearmongering.
A stronger public health system doesn’t fear prevention - it embraces it.
Facts matter! Read the amendment before spreading misinformation. Albertans deserve an honest debate - not manufactured outrage.
