The right to peaceful protest must be fully respected. Any allegations of excessive, unlawful and disproportionate use of force must be promptly, thoroughly and independently investigated, with law enforcement acting at all times in a proportionate manner. Albania’s future lies in a democratic, prosperous, and European path, with an accountable government, the rule of law, fight of corruption and a future of opportunity at home. Any unlawful violence and attacks from all sides, especially against property and personal integrity, have no place in a democracy as the current tensions have to be addressed through dialogue, de-escalation and democratic engagement. The voice of young people must be heard and their right to peacefully protests protected.

At the #OSCEPA Autumn Meeting in Andorra, parliamentarians addressed key challenges to peace, security and democratic stability. The EPP & Likeminded Group met to discuss its political priorities and the future leadership of the Assembly. The Group officially endorsed @GudrunKugler as its candidate for OSCE PA President in 2027, backing her vision for a stronger, more united and effective Assembly. Congratulations!

Today marks three years since the terrorist attacks of 7 October in Israel. We honour the victims and stand with the families who still carry the heavy weight of grief. We remember the young lives cut short at a music festival. And the long ordeal of the hostages. The EU stands with all those whose lives were forever changed by that day. The unspeakable savagery and terror of 7 October must never happen again. The EU remains ready to help turn today’s fragile ceasefire into a durable peace, based on a two-state solution. And remains equally convinced that nothing justifies terror.

36 years ago, Germany reunited in freedom. A historic achievement for Germany, and a defining moment for a Europe becoming whole again. Every leader understood that German unity and European unity belonged together. And that path remains our responsibility today: overcoming divisions, strengthening democracy and keeping Europe united around freedom, peace and the rule of law.
