Appalled by the terrorist attack in Trappes and La Verrière. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones. Europe stands with France.

Connecting those who protect us. Police, firefighters and paramedics must be able to talk and share information across borders. The #CERIS conference with PSCE looked at how the EU Critical Communication System (EUCCS) will link national systems so they can work together.

I welcome the decisions by Italy and Spain to stop controls at their internal borders. Schengen is one of the EU's greatest achievements. We will continue to strengthen it: By further reducing illegal migration, increasing returns, and strengthening our external borders.

Our migration policy is working: illegal border crossings into the EU are down another third in 2026. But smugglers are adapting their routes and methods. We will respond with a stronger Frontex mandate and a new European emergency response framework by the end of the year.
📉 Irregular border crossings into the EU: down 32% in the first nine months of 2026 🔹 Just over 91 000 detections 🔹 Steepest drop: Central Mediterranean (-56%) 🔹 Only increase: Western Mediterranean (+26%) Details ➡️ frontex.europa.eu/media-cent…
