Will never understand this mindset. Yes, by all accounts GI did some shady things with watermarking public images. But celebrating the demise of yet another business because of AI is so short sighted.
getty images spent years watermarking every photo on the internet. sued stability AI for training on their library. demanded the AI companies pay up. called it theft. filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy this week. the AI companies didn't pay. they just... kept going and designers stopped buying stock photos. and the $500 licensing fees stopped making sense when midjourney exists. and the debt piled up. a company whose entire business model was "we own the visual record of human history, pay us" just got outrun by a model that learned from that record and started giving it away for free. The irony is that the watermark is still on every image in the archive. even the ones nobody's licensing anymore.

Reviewed a trackpad. May have fixed my RSI in the process. 👌
With smooth, fast, and accurate tracking, effortless multi-touch gestures, and a low price, the Protoarc T1 Plus trackpad is an easy recommendation for Windows users. It's great for mouse-based RSI relief too. @protoarc_ piped.video/watch?v=c_coNkDu…

The opening goal in the Man City v PSG game is absolutely superb. Amazing passing and interplay in the build up, then that strike. Incroyable! piped.video/IDm7jNuOMig?is=Glw0…

This has to be the worst offender for modern car design I've seen in a while.
Replying to @Timoldland
And lest we forget, if you don’t option the passenger screen you get this delightful piano black blob 🤦🏼‍♂️

Anyone else find the combat in Clair Obscur: Exhibition 33 utterly tedious? One minute you're adventuring through this totally enchantin, mysterious world, the next you're basically filling in a spreadsheet.

Nvidia ditching the RTX 5090 is an understandable move in the grand scheme of things, but it's surprising that it's happening so long after the launch and yet so far ahead of the expected launch of the RTX 6090 (or whatever it'll be called).
Bad news if you were still saving up for an RTX 5090. piped.video/watch?v=_fRdcTIn…

Can't help but feel the interior of this goes against the famer's favourite feel of the original.

The fact that the reverse engineered version of Photoshop is immediately so much better than GIMP is striking. A lot of that's familiarity as a previous photoshop user, but so many little things are just easier/slicker. My learning GIMP torture is now over.

For under $60 (and currently just $48), the Yunzii M2 wireless gaming mouse offers an amazing amount. It has up to 8kHz polling, a 30K DPI sensor, works over Bluetooth and wired, and is available in a thoroughly zesty orange color.🍊piped.video/watch?v=Wb1soYua… @yunziikeyboard

Microsoft really is determined to drive its users away isn't it.
This is the new Windows 11 Search UI, coming later this year!

Has there ever been a less penetrable announcement for general windows users? Maybe that's not the target audience, but this is a Surface device announcement and it's just AI tech jargon waffle.
Today marks a new chapter for Windows, as we bring unmetered intelligence to every desk and every home, and make every PC a place where agents can work securely on your behalf. Some highlights of what we announced: • MAI-Code-1.1 Flash: 137B parameter coding model w/ 256K context window, which is now optimized to run on your PC! • GitHub Copilot now hands off work to local models like MAI-Code-1.1 Flash, helping projects cost a lot less without sacrificing quality. • With Hybrid Intelligence, Copilot can now take action directly on the PC and keep sensitive work on your device. • And with Code in Copilot, you can essentially build any software you need on your desktop, without any cloud token spend, and it’s just super at it. You’re no longer limited to what’s in an app store! Your PC becomes an infinite software factory. • Security is foundational to all this, which is why we are also bringing together Windows and Agent 365 so agents can work within secure boundaries on-device, including MXC a local sandbox for agent execution. Windows becomes your secure agent box! • All this comes to life on a new generation of devices, like Surface Laptop Ultra, powered by NVIDIA RTX Spark. Can’t wait to see what you build with all this.

Reviewed a bunch of Pimax VR headsets and the Steam Frame recently, and concluded my ideal headset would be the Crystal Light but smaller and lighter, and with Steam Frame style wireless and eye tracking. Days later Pimax drops this. piped.video/lhJ5d1qS5cM?is=mzxd…

The one thing I don't get about the Jaguar Type 01 discourse is those saying its exterior is ugly. Yes, it's too big, the interior looks cramped, the exterior is perhaps impractical, the lack of a rear window is weird, etc. But the actual styling? Nah, it looks epic.

Hello Crystal Pro. Eye-tracked 60GHz streaming over the first 2x2 MIMO wireless link on a VR headset, with up to 6 Gbps and under 2ms of added latency.

The number of times already that I've gone to use the Steam Frame and the battery has been dead. Would happen with any battery powered system (I en Steam Deck), but most aren't so inherently restricted when plugged in or limited in overall life.

What's with all the takes on Digger saying they didn't understand what it was about from the trailer? Ignoring that there is a twist in the film, the trailer quite clearly sets up what it's about. Did you all just not pay attention?

Made a video about a torch. Scared off the YouTube algorithm in the process.
With four beams (spotlight, wide, red, photography) a peak of 1300 lumens, 60h battery life, and able to be powered by one AA, the tiny pocketable Wurkkos HD02 Mini is one impressive torch/flashlight. And it's cheap too. piped.video/cy2uOR_G7mI

These have completely changed how I use my PC/desk setup. Can fit my chair closer to my desk, can play guitar and keyboard comfortably on my lap, can sit cross-legged. Such a clever solution.
If you play guitar or any other musical instrument that sits on your lap, the new Secretlab Easyfold armrests are a lifesaver.👌🎸piped.video/watch?v=2xw6ikDK…
