Due credit to the GS for being an early proponent of aggregated ballots. Aggregation has higher upside (all can go out) but higher downside (none can go out). @ucu members have shown that we can get that upside comfortably and repeatedly.

In another packed branch meeting, members overwhelmingly voted to take local strike action in response to management confirming they will deduct 26 days for the 6 days of strike in February. #ucuRISING
I am writing to you in relation to University expectations for making up education following industrial action. You will be aware that the University has confirmed that partial performance is not accepted, and that where education lost as a result of strike action is not made up, this will be deemed to be partial performance for which a deduction of 100% of pay will be made on the basis of 1/365 of salary for the period of partial performance. The Faculty supports the de-prioritisation of other activity to provide sufficient time for lost education to be made up. I understand that you have not yet confirmed that lost education arising from one or more of the February 2023 strike days (1st, 9th, 10th, 14th, 15th and 16th ) has been made up. Please confirm by return email that education has been made up – or has been agreed to be made up by a deadline confirmed and accepted by your Head of School/Institute or their delegate - by Friday 31st March 2023. Hi Sarah I read it, and I understand the arguments and the concern. What I don't see is sympathy for strikers struggling because of the sacrifice they are making by joining the picket line, and any self reflection of the optics of how this was likely to play out.

I voted to put the decision to members, and will continue to faithfully represent @ucu membership on HEC No amount of hand-wringing absolves those who voted against member views. - evidenced by the emails continuing to pour in from members who feel betrayed by that decision
