The indomitable Scott Jennings (@ScottJenningsKY) took some time with me to discuss First Lady Melania Trump’s action-oriented mission and accomplishments during the 47th Presidential Administration. We covered the First Lady’s (@Flotus) work to champion new legislation for America’s children: the TAKE IT DOWN Act and the Fostering the Future Act. We also discussed the bipartisan support she received during her visit to the House Ways and Means Committee. Mr. Jennings then addressed the First Lady’s work with Fostering the Future and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), through which she secured $30 million in funding for housing for youth aging out of foster care. We also discussed the First Lady’s historic “Peace Through Education” speech to the United Nations Security Council. This marked the first time in history that a First Lady from any country addressed the U.N. Security Council. Scott and I analyzed the First Lady’s important humanitarian work, through which she reunited 34 children displaced by the Russia-Ukraine war with their families. This process began, of course, with the First Lady’s “Peace Letter” to Russian President Vladimir Putin. We concluded by discussing the First Lady’s commitment to preserving, restoring, and modernizing the White House, beginning during the 45th Presidential Administration. This includes her award-winning work on the White House Tennis Pavilion.
