It also just inevitably runs in cycles over 38GW - we had similar conversations last year
In 25/26 GW1-9, the top 10
#FPL scorers were:
- 1 x GK
- 6 x DEF
- 1 x MID
- 2 x FWD
Over the next 9 games (GW10-18), the top 10 scorers were then:
- 0 x GK
- 1 x DEF
- 7 x MID
- 2 x FWD
I don’t think 4 or 5 at the back is anything new really, it’s been pretty viable since DEFCON came in last year.
People tend to fixate on which is the best formation going forward rather than simply playing the best XI they have each week which some weeks is 3 at the back, sometimes 4, sometimes 5 etc.
I do think strategy will just be the same as last year though - grab DEFCON guys as defenders need dealing with, and use them when they have great fixtures, or if an attacking player is suspended / has a knock and going to miss a week rather than selling them.
Does make attacking transfers a little less 🤷♂️ But I think that’s probably been the case for a while.
For me a back 3 is probably best in GW10, in GW11 it’ll be back 4 or 5.
Then just reassess week to week.
