Old internet presence; newish Twitter user. I really f**king love Hong Kong, and Funassyi!

I'm trying to think positive thoughts and be happy but, today of all days, it's hard to do. Instead, I feel like breaking things... and wish I could do all this as easily as my hero, @funassyi !

Remember: it's an independent committee, not a (more powerful) Independent Commission of Inquiry. Also:

Committee members – including its chair Judge David Lok, lawmaker and Executive Councillor Chan Kin-por, and Hospital Authority member Rex Auyeung – filed the final report to Chief Executive John Lee on Thursday morning, according to a government statement. In full: hongkongfp.com/2026/10/22/ta…

There sure are are a lot of self-proclaimed kings of some sort or other in Hong Kong, aren't there? (Vanity plates are well named, right, @HKnumberplates?)

**How it affects you.** You do not run PHP. The websites you use do. Big names will fix it tonight. The risk is the small, forgotten places: the local business site, the old forum, the little clinic portal nobody has updated in years.
Guys this PHP bug is bad. Real bad. If you're not afraid yet, you should be. I can only speak for our own startup, but already at knowbooks dot com we've seen: - 100% of our cookies exposed - entire source code stolen - hackers defacing our site on their own servers - founders doxxed - important legal docs leaked We've traced all hacks to this command: git clone https:///github.com/breck7/knowbooks.com If some people are telling you not to panic about this, remember, trust no one's word.

"Only after the COVID-19 pandemic – when Europe noticed its ‌dependence on Asian medical supplies – did policymakers begin treating pharmaceutical output as a strategic matter, said Anna Mihaylova, a policy expert at the Medical University of Plovdiv." 🤦

Periodic reminder that Jackie Chan is far more idiot asshole than genius. (Also, that his best movies are from three decades ago now *at least*.)

Also, I do appreciate that there are people outside of Hong Kong who profess to love Hong Kong cinema. But I really do wish they would watch (more) post-2019 Hong Kong films (and try to understand contemporary Hong Kong via the prism of pre-2019 ones.)
Replying to @star_bodhisattv
Without its own military or secret agents, cops (and Triads) were the "go to" protagonists for contemporary action films. Note though that since 2019, there are very few local movies (as opposed to co-productions) with cop or Triad heroes, and thus few Hong Kong action movies.

One more thing: there is a BIG difference between local Hong Kong movies and Hong Kong-Mainland China co-productions. If you ever really want to understand Hong Kong films, society and culture, you need to realise this. (Few will read this but I had to get it off my chest!)

Is the Hong Kong Tourism Board and its associates trying to ruin Hong Kong? It's bad enough that they seem to think that over-tourism (much of it cheap tourism at that) is a good thing. But they also seems intent on doing away with much that Hongkongers love about Hong Kong too.

"As part of efforts to make the SAR more attractive, the Tourism Board is launching a new themed light show to replace the long-running "A Symphony of Lights" display." When we thought they couldn't do worse (than have that long-running "A Symphony of Lights" on).🤦

Note: the people doing a "Communist" regime's dirty work aren't motivated by ideology but by money, quite a bit of it, to go hurt a fellow human being/national.
This is an alarming case that reflects the extent of China's attempt to silence dissent inside Taiwan: "Prosecutors in Taiwan have indicted five people for allegedly trying to injure a comedian who mocks the Chinese Communist Party and President Xi Jinping as part of his act. The five suspects in Taiwan are accused of accepting NT$450,000 ($13,900) from some Chinese people to “break arms and legs” of comedian Huang Yihao’s, Taiwan’s national news agency CNA reported Wednesday." apnews.com/article/taiwan-ch…

🇭🇰 HK01 isn't exactly gonna let this go - highlighting that it was this very access which led it to uncover notable alleged abuse & misuse of Wang Fuk Court residents' proxy votes in endorsing the very building renovation works which went ahead without due regard for fire safety.
A Hong Kong press group has urged the government to scrap new rules tightening media access to the city's land records, warning that the arrangements will "exacerbate information asymmetry" and harm freedom of information. [Full story in link below.] Photo: Screenshot.
