On Mexican Independence Day, we wanted to open one of the chapters that made Mexico part of Fatal’s history.
Fatal entered Gears in 2017.
Over the next few years, it became one of the chapters that pushed the name far beyond where it started.
Mexico City. Fight Nights. LATAM 2Ks. Boston. Different rosters, different events, a lot of the same people crossing paths again and again.
There were results worth remembering too. We took a deciding series over OpTicGamingMX in 2018. In April 2019, Fatal finished 2nd in back-to-back LATAM 2Ks, and BGod and Cristalize went on to finish top four in the Boston Open 2v2.
But this post isn’t really a resumé.
It’s the crowd. The setups. The jerseys. The pictures between matches. The photobooth we caught the team using without them realizing we were taking a picture of them taking a picture. The Gears prop. The Mexican flag on stage.
This was the Gears era.
One of the chapters that shaped Fatal outside New York.
