I have a rule of NEVER mentioning my place of work, the brands I work for or the people I work with on LinkedIn.
I don’t believe in superstitions, but I remember excitedly announcing the highest-paying job I had ever gotten on LinkedIn, only to lose it 6 days later.
I don’t know the maths behind it or how any of it works, but I definitely learnt my lesson.
At first, I used to share every detail because I thought people would think I was lying if I didn’t mention names, and I absolutely hated being called a liar.
But I’ve since learnt that being called a liar is one of the least terrible things that can happen when you choose to keep certain things private.
These days, I’ll happily share the lessons, the growth, and the wins, but the specifics of where they’re happening, the brands involved, and the people I work with?
Those stay with me.
