I attended Monday's Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Forum in Brainerd where Amy Klobuchar said she would not raise taxes as governor and that she would actually like to lower them. Amy Klobuchar: “I have made it clear I’m not going to increase taxes, and I would actually like to lower taxes.” There's one glaring problem with this statement... The DFL’s own “Minnesota Values Project” agenda for 2027 (created by DFL House and Senate Members in July 2026) proposes roughly $13.5 billion in new annual spending – on healthcare, energy mandates, childcare, and education – on top of a budget that is already running a deficit. That is not a plan for tax cuts. It is a plan for a massive tax increase. Minnesotans have heard this before. Promises of fiscal restraint, followed by higher taxes and more spending once the votes are counted. Accountable government means matching what you say with what your party’s agenda actually costs.
