I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s okay to have different political views than your friends and family and still be close with them. If people disown you for a political belief, Republican or Democrat, they weren’t true friends to begin with.

I'm going to bed.
How it feels to get home from work in November, sit down on the couch at 7pm, and realize that Major League Baseball isn’t there for you every single night anymore.

Why don't I live in Boston?
Nothing quite like a New England fall.

Off-season? What off-season? Never. Stop. Training. That's my closer.
Aroldis Chapman responds to Salvador Pérez after his offseason training partner taunted him with a video drinking coffee early in the morning in the Dominican Republic. “Good morning, captain. I already saw you in the Dominican Republic on vacation, drinking coffee early in the morning. That’s good, enjoy it there. Listen to what I’m about to tell you. Take at least 30–45 minutes, go to the beach, and do a little cardio. Lately you show up for a couple of days, then disappear for a week or two, come back for two days, and disappear again. So do a little cardio, just something small so you stay active. You pushing 40, you know you can’t start getting lazy now. If we want to play a couple more years, we can’t start slacking. We have to be ready, ready, ready. No slowing down. A hug.” Via Aroldis Chapman/IG

The Requiem was the last work Mozart ever wrote. He was still composing it when he died at just 35 years old, leaving a wife and two young children behind. The Dies Irae was left incomplete. Mozart’s thunderous setting is built on a 13th-century chant, the Dies Irae sung for centuries at Masses for the dead. You can hear that original chant on our new album, Lumen: pre-order now and download the Dies Irae today. sistersofaquinas.bandcamp.co…

There's a saying on American social media: "Be the American that Japanese people think you are." I'm Japanese. I've lived in Tokyo my whole life. So let me tell you what we actually say about you, when you're not in the room. "When someone falls down on the street, we pretend not to see. We're protecting their pride. Americans run straight at them. They don't care about the pride. They care about the knee." (Office worker, 38) "An American will stop four lanes of traffic for a family of ducks. And then everyone in the cars claps for the ducks." (Taxi driver, 61) "If you lend an American a pen, you will never see it again. If you need a kidney, they'll ask your blood type." (Nurse, 45) "At kids' soccer games, they cheer when the other team's kid scores. The other team's parents look confused. Then they cheer too." (Youth soccer coach, 52, lived one year in Ohio) "A man sneezed on a bus in Chicago. Eleven strangers said 'Bless you.' He said 'thank you' eleven times. Nobody on that bus thought this was strange." (University student, 21) "At an airport in Texas, I watched a soldier try to pay for his lunch. The cashier said someone already had. He asked who. She said, 'Somebody who didn't want you to know.'" (Retired teacher, 70) "American fathers cannot braid hair. But they will watch a video at midnight for an hour so their daughter's hair looks right on picture day." (Hair stylist, 33) "I ran the Chicago Marathon once. Strangers stood in the cold for hours holding signs for people they will never meet. At mile 20, a man I'd never seen read the name off my bib and screamed it like he'd raised me." (Runner, 48) "When Americans get lost, they ask a stranger. If the stranger is also lost, they become a team." (Tour guide, 39) "They ask the waitress her name. And then they remember it." (Restaurant owner, 66) And one more. From my father. He's 76. He doesn't say much about anything. This is the longest thing I have ever heard him say about another country. "Every time something terrible happens in America, I watch the news, and I look for one thing. The people running toward it. There are always so many." So, America. You don't have to become the Americans we think you are. We're not imagining you. We're remembering you.

I have an irrational fear that we treated (treat!) Masa so poorly that we will never sign another Japanese player again.
As it pertains to Japanese RHP Kaima Taira, @kileymcd notes that ‘the Red Sox, Nationals and Cubs all covet starters with velocity and big extension, and rivals think they at least have to investigate.’

I'd argue the same. It'd be different if Cash won.
I know hypothetically speaking it’s the manager that went to the World Series that should win Manager of The Year But Chad Tracy and Will Venable should win the award Tracy turned the Red Sox season around as they were 14 games under 500. In the month of June to leading them to a playoff spot, and being 12 games over 500. At the end of the season Will Venable in his second year as manager after a 102 Loss season, turned the White Sox around to a 84-78 record almost winning the AL Central and making a core of young talent excel to an appearance in the ALDS My Vote would be Chad Tracy just for the turnaround he had on the season alone but don’t be surprised if either one of these two won it Kevin Cash is an amazing manager as well pushed the Rays to their first World Series appearance in 6 years but it’s hard to argue Tracy and Venable’s success this season
