Boomers never actually hated gaming. They hated you. Home consoles were new and exciting at the time, and it shouldn't come as a surprise how enthusiastic the youth were about them. Video games were always a proxy to launder their hatred of their children.

The upper classes don't apply for jobs. They get ushered in through family connections or nepotism. Failing this, they become roving Trust-afarians with fake, look-busy jobs to hide the fact that they don't work for a living.

The online job application system is just another class filter they put in place. The upper classes don't apply for jobs, they get recruited. Failing that, they create a startup, siphon VC money, and eventually fall forward into executive roles when they spend it all on oysters.

If the electorate were intelligent, it would demand the "Buy, Borrow, Die" infinite money exploit that enables the wealthy to borrow against their assets to buy more assets be patched. The wealthy are not bothered by income taxes because they do not derive a typical income.
