Everyone says they want to reindustrialize America, Jim + @sendcutsend are actually doing it. We’re thrilled to lead their Series B as they scale the "Anything Factory" to more locations and new service lines, for customers building everything from bottle openers to rockets.
Okay it’s happening: - Added 160k square feet in Reno for our automated high volume lines and parts up to 5’x10’. Operational now. - Added 170k square feet in Pittston PA for 1-day shipping (or faster) to the Northeast US. Landing machines and growing the team now. - Southeast US is next (flying out next week to negotiate a lease). 3 more leases in 3 more states to sign after that. Expect massive lead time reductions across our factory network. - Finalizing our first acquisition and working on the second and third. These are services you’ve been asking for. More coming. We’ll be able to say yes to more of your BOM. - Welding is ramping nicely. More assembly support soon. - More materials and capabilities for CNC machining in development now, including much smarter pricing. Increased capacity will also help us cut lead time drastically. - Added 450 people so far this year. Hopefully double that in 2027. - Candy and merch budgets have been tripled. …And we’re just getting started. That’s a big part of why we raised again: to build more, ship faster, and make manufacturing easier and more accessible. I’m doing my best for ya. I love you guys. Big thanks to @willreed at @sparkcapital , @caitlinbolnick1 at @CRV, @marksugarman at MHS, @andrew__reed at @sequoia and @matthuang at @paradigm for supporting our Series B (and the extra rocket fuel) LFG!!!!! 🇺🇸

we build foundation models that span all protein modalities (ie not just one type of medicine). this partnership with @BioMarin pharma is one piece of evidence towards that. we'll have even more announcements soon on this point
We’re partnering with @BioMarin to use our AI models to design novel medicines. Our foundation models unlock proteins with new and improved functions by drawing on the world's largest dataset of unique protein sequences (115B and counting): Profluent’s Protein Atlas BioMarin will screen designs we generate and advance the strongest into preclinical testing. Looking forward to what AI can unlock for patients!

Hey, so this Saturday you can come to the Grand Opening party for Tabletop Library in Berkeley all day and night. It'll be worth the drive over, you know, if you want. @BerkeleyTTL is a side quest I've been on with @andrewmason, @tabletopgrl & david c to make a whimsical place that gets us off our phones, playing with each other, and holds board gaming up for the awesomeness that it has become recently. It's been a labor of love where we've also built a dewey decimal system for games, a board game recommender service, used a card catalog from UC Berkeley as the front desk, and a dozen other little details I'd love to show you. tabletoplibrary.com/news/gra… And after the visit you can go less than a block to the comic shop (escapist) and sci-fi bookstore (dark carnival) in what must now be the nerdiest single block anywhere.

Instruction Following was critical to us at @OpenAI making AI useful for humans. @CompleteSkeptic was a force on the research side, ensuring it was a good product. When he left to focus on machine-native intelligence, with @EGafni and @hackgoofer, we at @sparkcapital needed to be involved. What they've done in the two+ years since is remarkable and the response from the community these past 24 hours reminds me of July 2020, when we first introduced GPT-3 in the API. So much beauty and creativity already from this new primitive. I'm excited to see all that is built on it.
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI? I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev • 20-200x faster • 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free) • Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution

The US is trending GWs short on generation for AI. "Speed to power" has entered every conversation on the infra scaleup and will only get more important. We have enormous conviction in behind-the-meter solar and think @tar_hq is the team to deploy it fast and reliably at scale.
We raised a $120M Series A at a $1B valuation, led by Spark Capital. We are hiring in 40+ roles across mechanical, electrical and software engineering, robotics, power systems, operations and more in the San Francisco Bay Area and Austin. Full article: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Embodied foundation models are few shot learners
Introducing GEN-1.5, a one-shot learner. It can learn new tasks in a few seconds. Show it what to do, and it generalizes. This capability emerged from pretraining on physical data at scale, as a step towards our mission of building general intelligence for the physical world.

AI has become a useful research partner. It can find information, summarize evidence, and suggest ideas. But can it help us think better? Can it help us navigate the complex nuances of high-stakes decisions? Today, we’re taking the next step toward our mission of scaling up good reasoning for high-stakes decisions with the launch of the Elicit Research Agent, an AI environment built for high-stakes decisions. You can use the Research Agent today at elicit.com or access it through API (docs.elicit.com) to bring its capabilities into your own workflows.

The bottleneck in rare disease is design: too many mutations, one editor at a time. AI unlocks that. Proud to be building GemmaBio's platform with them under @ARPA_H 's THRIVE program. We're bringing our frontier AI models and base editors to the work to design modular gene editors that scale across many mutations.
95% of rare diseases have no approved treatment. When your child is getting sicker, waiting isn’t an option. ARPA-H is investing $160 million through THRIVE to accelerate personalized genetic cures for the kids who need them most. A rare diagnosis should never mean no hope for a cure. @broadinstitute @ChildrensPhila @igisci @StJude @Stanford #GEMMABio #MassachusettsGeneralHospital arpa-h.gov/news-and-events/a…

Generalist CEO @peteflorence says robotics models are in a transition period similar to the step change between GPT-2 and GPT-3. They're "starting to cross over into levels of performance where these things are commercially viable for a number of different applications." "We think this is a crossover point where we have a general model starting to be able to hit levels of reliability, speed, and improvisational intelligence where we can start to get these things out there." "Very much like — you take a GPT-2-level model, you scale it to a GPT-3-level model, and certain types of commercial applications start to become viable."

Elicit now has an MCP server. Use it inside Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and any MCP-compatible tool. Agents hallucinate when they don't have access to the right evidence. With Elicit's MCP, they search 138M+ papers and cite instead of guess. Ask your agent to run a full Elicit research report from inside your existing workflow. It searches, screens, extracts, and produces a shareable report you can build on. Your agents are only as useful as the evidence they can access. Now they can access Elicit. Install directly in ChatGPT or ask your agent to read the setup instructions at elicit.com/api

Most VCs wouldn’t touch Anthropic in 2023. Yasmin Razavi did. The Spark Capital partner led a $450M round when Anthropic had no public product, no revenue and a massive capital need. Now the AI giant’s rise has landed her on the Forbes Midas List for the first time. forbes.com/sites/iainmartin/… (Photo: Guerin Blask For Forbes) #ForbesMidas

Most AI-in-pharma stories are about going faster. Profluent and Lilly's partnership is a scientific moonshot -- using AI to design large-scale DNA editors for genetic diseases where one-mutation fixes don't work, reaching patients conventional approaches can't
AI has two modes in drug discovery. Accelerate: moving faster through the existing playbook. Unlock: opening frontiers that weren't possible before. Excited to announce Profluent is partnering with Eli Lilly, the global pharma powerhouse, to unlock breakthrough medicines for patients. It's a big deal beyond the numbers ($2.25B + royalties): we’ll get to use our frontier AI models and foundational datasets to design proteins focused on large gene insertion, a therapeutic moonshot. Proteins govern almost everything in biology. We've built a generalizable AI platform to design all proteins. Onward!

There's enough evidence now that it's all going to work just like LLMs. "Will it work?" is the wrong question. "How fast?" and "How to do it faster?" become the questions.
Scale is all you need (again). Generalist has pretrained a robotics foundation model from scratch, scaled it up, and it's all working as you'd expect if you truly believe in the scaling hypothesis The scaling laws they showed previously continue to hold. New capabilities emerge at scale. Some capabilities cross a threshold and are now commercially deployable generalistai.com/blog/apr-02…

I’m a daily user of Poke. This type of product — a helpful personal assistant, universally available via messaging — will be one of the most important products of this era. Text is the universal interface. It’s intuitive, without a learning curve. And while a button can only do what a button says, a text box can do anything the user can articulate. There’s a reason why over the history of the consumer internet only two UI paradigms have reached a billion-user scale: the media feed and the chat interface Poke.com - now available for everyone
Starting today, personal superintelligence is just one tap away. No download, no signup. Text Poke for free now: Poke.com 🌴 — 0:00 – What's Poke? 0:50 – Introducing Poke Recipes 1:25 –  Create a Recipe in 10 seconds 1:43 – Earn on Poke 2:44 – Build with npx poke 12:58 – Recap 13:36 – Parisian Love
