We promote LN adoption in Africa and enable fast, cost-effective Bitcoin payments, empowering African businesses to accept Bitcoin.

Africa
We are building for freedom in Africa, yet bad actors are trying to ruin us. Our African nodes have been hacked. While our customers' funds were not affected, the losses we incurred are so severe we've had to temporarily close our African nodes. This is so sad, we are so sorry 😢

Africa is not just adopting Bitcoin. African women are building it. We built Dada Devs with the hope of creating a better ecosystem for African women in Bitcoin — one where women have access to the technical training, mentorship, resources, and opportunities they need to move from learning about Bitcoin to actively building and contributing to it. That vision is taking shape. Through Dada Devs, we are creating pathways for women to develop their technical skills, contribute to open-source projects, explore Bitcoin infrastructure, and build solutions of their own. We want African women to be more than participants in this ecosystem. We want them to help shape its future. @su_githaiga @nkatha_kk @Salma_Adam_KE @junearsenic7 and @nnakhero are five of the women doing that work. Their journeys reflect what becomes possible when women have the support and space to grow into technical contributors. And they are just a fraction of what is happening at Dada Devs. There are more women learning, building, contributing, and finding their place in this ecosystem. We started with a hope for a better future for African women in Bitcoin. Seeing that future begin to take shape through their work is a reminder of why we do this. Meet the five African women contributing to the future of Bitcoin. Discover what they’re building, the work they’re contributing to, and how Dada Devs is helping create more pathways for African women in Bitcoin development. Yesterday was Day 5 and the final day of our Lightning Developer Bootcamp in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania! 🇹🇿 As always, we wrapped things up with a hackathon! 🚀 After four days of learning, the developers got to put everything into practice, building and experimenting with Bitcoin and Lightning. It was great to see the ideas they came up with and the progress they made in just a few days. We also established BitDevs Dar es Salaam yesterday! 🇹🇿🎉 A new space for Bitcoin enthusiasts and developers to come together, discuss Bitcoin development, share ideas, and keep learning beyond the bootcamp. A huge thank you to our instructors, @Extheo , @megasley and @_Satoshee for sharing their knowledge, answering countless questions, and guiding the developers throughout the week. We truly appreciate you! 🙏🏾 We are also deeply grateful to our sponsors and partners, @HRF, @btrustteam , @Tether_Africa, @planb_network, @afribitcoiners, and @BitcoinSafariTZ , for making this bootcamp possible. And a special thank you to @Graysatoshi for all his help with on ground logistics throughout the bootcamp. Five days of learning, building, and connecting. And now, a new Bitcoin community in Dar es Salaam. What a week! 🇹🇿⚡

Day 4 in Dar es Salaam! 🇹🇿⚡ Yesterday, we took things a step further and started putting everything we’ve learned into practice. We showed the developers how to build on Lightning, working with APIs and exploring how they can bring Lightning payments into real world applications. Our instructor, @Extheo also went deep into open source contribution and @btrust_builders pathways. From finding projects to contribute to, understanding a codebase, making changes, and submitting contributions, the goal was to show that building in Bitcoin is not just about starting something new. There is also a huge opportunity to contribute to the projects already powering the ecosystem. It was a packed day with lots of building, questions, and hands on work. One more day to go! ⚡🚀 We are deeply grateful to our sponsors and partners, @HRF , @btrustteam , @Tether_Africa, @planb_network , @afribitcoiners, and @BitcoinSafariTZ

DAY 1 OF HACK4FREEDOM NBO 🇰🇪 And oh, Dada Devs! 😮‍💨🔥 The turnout. The energy. The talent. UNMATCHED. Day 1 made one thing very clear: skills and talent aren’t the missing gap. The room is. We kicked things off with @briimhd Founder of @hack4_freedom , who took the ladies through why this work matters and why creating more opportunities for builders is critical. Our Founder, @marcelorraine , challenged the room to think beyond simply being consumers of technology. Her message? Build from Africa. Africa doesn’t just need more people using technology. We need more people building it. She encouraged the participants to explore what they can create using open-source protocols like Bitcoin, Lightning, Nostr and eCash and to see themselves not just as participants in the ecosystem, but as builders shaping what comes next. A session that had the room reflecting on why they showed up and what they’re capable of building.. 🧵

We’re excited to announce the Q3 2026 Btrust developer grant recipients. 🚀 Ten Bitcoin open-source developers are receiving support: five starter grant recipients and five long-term open-source cohort members. This quarter also marks an important first: Btrust developer grants are going directly to developers outside Africa. Through our recent expansion of long-term grants across the Global Majority, we’re now supporting developers in Brazil 🇧🇷 and India 🇮🇳. Their work, alongside that of recipients in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and Kenya 🇰🇪, spans @bitcoincoreorg, mining ⛏️ infrastructure, Lightning⚡, wallet libraries, and privacy-preserving payments. Meet the recipients and learn about their work:

Day 3 in Dar es Salaam! 🇹🇿 Today, we got deep into Bitcoin transactions. The developers learned how transactions work under the hood and got hands on with constructing raw Bitcoin transactions. In the afternoon, we moved into Lightning ⚡ We covered the fundamentals of the Lightning Network and then got our hands dirty with @lightningpolar, setting up nodes and experimenting with a local Lightning network. It was a packed day, but the developers were right there with us, asking questions and getting their hands dirty. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors and partners, @HRF , @btrustteam , @Tether_Africa , @planb_network , @afribitcoiners , and @BitcoinSafariTZ , for supporting this bootcamp and helping make this opportunity possible for developers in Tanzania. 🙏🏾 Three days down, two more to go.

From understanding Lightning to making it work. ⚡ Sessions 13 & 14 of Rust for Bitcoin 2.0 took participants deeper into the Lightning Network and its role within the Bitcoin ecosystem. With @200OKDeveloper, @megasley and @damola21mm guiding the sessions, participants explored key Lightning concepts and worked hands on with Polar, LNURL, and LUD-05, moving from understanding the technology to interacting with it in practice. The sessions also featured practical Lightning transactions, giving participants direct experience with sending and receiving Lightning payments and a clearer understanding of how Lightning based applications work. Two sessions of practical learning that brought participants closer to the program’s bigger goal: moving from learning Bitcoin technologies to building and contributing to the Bitcoin ecosystem. #TheBuidlGrid #RustForBitcoin
