A brief throwaway movie line that I think about all the time in Congress and the U.S. government, delivered by Captain Kirk in Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan- “You have to learn why things work on a Starship.”

Venues are *pulling out* of hosting Vivek Ramaswamy for his final bus tour across Ohio.
“We’re getting calls that people don’t want him there,” a top Ohio Republican says. “It’s that damn ad.”

Correct. Also crazy that Wrath of Khan/Search For Spock/Voyage Home happen without a break- III picks up immediately after II and IV immediately after III (for plot essential reasons related to which ship they have). Universe internal all three movies take place in a few weeks
Anytime I rewatch Search for Spock I have the same opinion: the first 45 minutes are solid and I would be happy if it ended there. It's 105 minutes long and paced abysmally.
This line is getting praise on X, but it’s actually elitist garbage written by a speechwriter who clearly hasn’t spent much time in a Cheesecake Factory, which has none of the gaudy Trump aesthetic, and just feels good to say because it represents flyover MAGA “night out.”
Combining two of the most annoying genres- “pretending to be offended” and “speaks for the working class.” Might work better if it wasn’t all in service of the guy in this picture
TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.
To the anonymous clowns running to their “journalistic” friends in the media, planting stories to target people, departments, and agencies, all to angle for the next big job you’ve dreamed of: You’re a bunch of pathetic, self-absorbed, egotistical losers! It’s no surprise at all, as we know who some of you disloyal, power-hungry cowards are👀🤡Keep climbing—There’s a reason you’re still where you are!!! cc: @POTUS@WhiteHouse@realDonaldTrump
The Department of Justice does not seek to stop any ballot from being cast or to stop the certification of Alaska's election. This litigation seeks to ensure that after Alaskans cast their ballots, they are preserved in a manner so that only Alaska's governing officials have the information necessary to make a determination as to whether Alaskan voters were confused or mislead.
The lawsuit was written by Justice Department attorneys and the Department did not coordinate with any campaign or candidate, but rather relied solely on federal law.
Big crowd in Henrico about to hit the doors for @ShannonTaylorVA
Lots of enthusiasm and momentum with 10 days to go to flip this seat from red to blue.

NEW: We obtained internal emails showing Rep. Andy Ogles’ (R-TN) lawyer emailed Ed Martin to ask DOJ to drop an investigation into Ogles’ campaign finances.
DOJ did, with no public explanation. The inspector general needs to investigate why.
