Things just got even more interesting with the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2! 🔥
Following yesterday’s UK retailer reports, a collector has now received a response from Nintendo UK Support, stating that a version of the console with a user-replaceable battery will exist!
However, they couldn’t clarify whether the original preorders will receive this version or if we’re looking at two different hardware revisions.
And here’s where things get interesting…
With the EU’s new battery regulations taking effect in February 2027, could Nintendo be preparing to distribute this revised Zelda edition across the rest of Europe too?
And what about North America, Japan and other regions? 🌍
Nintendo hasn’t formally announced this specific revision yet, but these developments certainly raise some interesting questions!
Huge thanks to the

Things are getting interesting with the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2! 🔥
Following the initial Smyths listings, more UK retailers are reportedly taking preorders for a new batch of the Zelda 40th Anniversary console and Pro Controller featuring user-replaceable batteries!
Reports are coming from Smyths, ShopTo, GAME UK and The Game Collection.
🇬🇧 October 29 — Original model
🇬🇧 November 5 — Reported revised version
Nintendo had already confirmed that the 40th Anniversary collection would be restocked, but what we didn’t expect was the possibility of revised hardware!
And that raises an interesting question…
Why would Nintendo revise a limited-edition console so soon?
Could they be planning to keep this special edition available beyond February 2027, when the new European battery regulations come into effect?
Nothing officially confirmed about this specific revision yet, but it’s certainly an interesting possibility! 🤔
