Military barrel production returns to the UK thanks to 🇩🇪🇬🇧 ties. I joined Defence Secretary @WesStreeting as he opened Rheinmetall's Gun Hall in Telford, creating highly-skilled jobs. Powerful example of 🇩🇪🇬🇧 cooperation, based on the #KensingtonTreaty.

Great to be in the East Midlands to see 🇬🇧🇩🇪 cooperation in action! Rolls-Royce’s power gearbox technology, developed in Dahlewitz 🇩🇪 & installed in Derby 🇬🇧, is a great example of our close ties. Good to also discuss East Midlands-Germany ties with @EastMidsCCA’s Amy Harhoff.

75 years ago, 🇩🇪&🇬🇧 re-established diplomatic ties. Yesterday we asked: What will our relations look like in 25 years' time? Discussing this with young people and a great panel made one thing clear: 🇩🇪🇬🇧 ties will remain firmly rooted in NATO & be shaped by the 🇬🇧🇪🇺 relationship.

Bentley is a fascinating symbol of 🇬🇧🇩🇪 industrial ties: proudly based in Crewe and part of Germany’s Volkswagen Group. Really good getting a first-hand look at the innovation and craftsmanship of the thousands of staff here in Crewe.

Germany and the UK are united in the resolve to strengthen European security. With the #KensingtonTreaty we're tackling the challenges ahead. Europe must regain deterrence dominance. Thanks to @WiltonPark, @GiselaStuart & all panellists for an important talk!

🇩🇪&🇬🇧 are major economic partners, with bilateral trade exceeding £155bn annually! Thanks to the German Business Hub & @BCCGeV for bringing together German and UK business leaders at a summit to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation on trade, investment & defence technology.

I held a meeting with the German Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ms @GermanAmbUK. Germany is a strategic partner of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and one of our major allies in Europe. Berlin continues to provide critically important military assistance, particularly for Ukraine’s air defence and the production of interceptors to counter jet-powered Shahed drones. Cooperation in the joint production of drones and unmanned ground vehicles is also developing. The German government recently allocated an additional funding package for Ukraine’s energy sector. All these are extremely important steps in providing support against the backdrop of Russia intensifying its strikes on Ukraine ahead of winter. The Ambassador reaffirmed the German government’s unwavering position on the need to continue putting pressure on Russia, which must be intensified in order to achieve peace – for Ukraine and all of Europe.

Chancellor Merz & PM Burnham 👉 finalised #KensingtonTreaty ratification 👉 launched an Industrial Tech Corridor 👉 agreed a Counter Hybrid threat partnership 👉 expanded space ties 👉 advanced quantum tech links 👉 convened Regional Growth Forum Strong 🇩🇪🇬🇧 relations in action!

Yesterday, we celebrated German Unity at Canterbury Cathedral. 37 years ago, brave East Germans demanded freedom & democracy, peacefully bringing down the Iron Curtain. Democracy isn't guaranteed. We must learn from our history, defend democracy & stand together against division.

On the anniversary of the horrific Hamas terror attacks of 7 October, Germany stands firmly by Israel's side. We want Israelis and Palestinians to be able to live in peace and security. This is best achieved through a two-state solution. We will combat antisemitism in all forms.

A good chat on all things defence and security with Susanne Baumann, Germany’s Ambassador to the UK, during her visit to Scotland. Thanks to @GermanCGEdin for facilitating and hosting! @GermanAmbUK

In today's geopolitical context, making our economies more resilient and less dependent is not only imperative for growth, but also for national security. Excellent exchange with @britishchambers's Shevaun Haviland, colleagues from EU member states, CPTPP members and others.

The Cannock Chase German Military Cemetery stands as an enduring monument to international reconciliation. My heartfelt thanks to Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal for attending the inauguration of the cemetery's new History Centre.

A poignant celebration of 🇬🇧🇩🇪 reconciliation and the opening of the History Centre at Cannock Chase German Military Cemetery with the Dean of Windsor Christopher Cocksworth, @CWGC's Steve Hill, @BMBFSFJ’s Michael Brand & a moving performance by Chelsea Pensioner Colin Thackery.

In our times of polarisation, I draw inspiration from an almost forgotten champion of human rights: George Forster, a visionary thinker ahead of his time. @Andrea_Wulf's "The Traveller" tells his story. Thanks to her & @MishaGlenny for an inspiring talk at the Embassy!

Germany's Basic Law provides for equivalent living conditions across 🇩🇪's 16 Länder. With devolution a UK priority, our #KensingtonTreaty talk explored deepening 🇩🇪🇬🇧 cooperation on this. Regional gov't brings democracy closer to the people - vital when democracy is under attack.
