Our union was proud to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for Hollywood River Studios being constructed in Wood River, Illinois! General Secretary-Treasurer Gregg Smith, IUPAT staff, and District Council 58 staff were there with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Hollywood River Studios President and CEO Chris Breakwell. We are grateful for the opportunity to help build the television and film industry in Illinois!

We love when our trades work together under one roof! Drywall finishers Greg and Mark and painters Wayne, Mike, and Joe are hard at work on the St. Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre in Arichat, Nova Scotia. Together, they are building this important long-term care facility from the ground up.

When contractors shirk their responsibilities, our union takes action. Members of DC 30 were not being paid properly by their employer. Business Manager Ryan Anderson visited their job site to speak directly with affected members and ensure they knew their union had their backs in this fight. He also wanted to make sure these members know about the Member Benefits Protection Program for the unfortunate times when employers fail to pay proper wages or make timely benefit contributions. That’s the union difference.

Congratulations to our brother Pete Turner on 50 years as a member of District Council 46! Business Manager Bruno Mandic gave him his pin. That’s five full decades of dedication, commitment, and solidarity. What an incredible milestone to celebrate!
