Dear Dan,
How about understanding the Bible before arguing against it?
-
John 14:28: “The Father is greater than I.”
The Father is greater in status, while they are equal in essence. And the Jews picked up stones to stone Him for making Himself equal to God. (John 10:30).
-
Mark 13:32: “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
Obviously, the Bible tells us that Jesus is all-knowing (John 16:29–30). However, it is not for Jesus to reveal the date that the Father has set (Acts 1:7).
-
John 17:3: “That they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
Yes, the Father is the only true God. No other person is the Father. The Bible is clear though that Jesus is God (Romans 9:5; 2 Peter 1:1).
-
Matthew 26:39: Jesus prays to God in Gethsemane: “Not as I will, but as you will.”
As a humble servant, Jesus prays to the Father and submits to His will. We also see the Father prays to Jesus (Hebrews 1:8).
-
John 20:17: “I ascend to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”
Jesus is not the Father, but God the Son. His having a God, refers to His relationship with the Father, not a denial of His divinity. The Father and the Son are distinct persons, yet one God. (Proverbs 30:4)
-
Mark 10:18: “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.”
That is a thought-provoking question. Jesus knew that the man did not believe He was God. By asking him that question, Jesus was making him consider that if he called Jesus good, he was acknowledging that Jesus is God, because only God is good.
