In our latest Substack, GGF's Insights Manager @Kaihain2 writes up our polling of over a thousand 16-18 year olds earlier this year about their options post-18.
The polling reveals confusion and a system that remains incredibly hard to navigate. 🧵1/6
There are clear divides: students from higher socioeconomic backgrounds (ABC1) are drifting towards university, while those with working-class backgrounds (C2DE) are less sure of their options.

1/ Too big for councils but too small for national government. Ahead of the Budget, our Good Growth Budget has a fix for the infrastructure projects stuck in the middle: Regionally Significant Infrastructure Projects (RSIPs), greenlit by Metro Mayors🧵
3/ Think smaller reservoirs, stadiums, transport hubs and data centres. Mayors could meet environmental duties by paying into a regional fund. Pair that with fiscal devolution, and places get power and incentives to go for growth.
Research from @GoodGrowthFdn found over half of disabled people would exchange some of their benefits for help with health & work. I was glad to hear @stephenctimms agree that tailored support is vital, and that Labour’s Connect to Work programme is delivering it.
Great to see @deirdrecostigan raise our recent report, ‘Investing in Agency’ that shows half of PIP claimants would swap up to £1,000 in benefit payments to access support that would otherwise be unaffordable such as employment support, therapy or physical aids.
Our second Substack is up now: @prafulnargund on why Burnham isn't just pitching left and what he needs to do at the Budget.

Big thumbs up from us for @WildlifeTrusts' new water campaign, calling for companies failing environmental and financial targets to be turned into co-operatives owned by the public!
Our research set out how this could be achieved - read below ⬇️
