@sabahvir reports there is a height-related problem with Metro Line 7A viaduct due to airport funnel zone. If AAI and MMRDA don't find a common ground, it "MIGHT" require reconstruction worth INR 250 crore.
27/08 - I post the below tweet, explaining how the issue is actually very minor and a fix is rather easy to find. Engineering is bound have teething issues in every project.
01/09 -
@fayedsouza without any source, legal work order or expert input declares that an entire 1km long section "WILL BE" demolished for reconstruction.
News spreads like wildfire, and her followers go insane, wondering how many schools could've been built in 250 crores, and how PM Cares Fund will be used to rectify the non-existent error (typical room temp IQ cohort).

@sabahvir follows-up, and confirms reconstruction NOT required. AAI x MIAL x MMRDA repeat exactly what I suggested earlier. How much money wasted? INR 0. (Link:

But the psychological damage is already done within the minds of the hyper-ventilating youth. Folks like
@TheBanat pickup precisely such rotten breadcrumbs to make up a comedy sketch and further amplify, without ever having the correct context.
Do you know what's worse?
@fayedsouza will neither post the follow-up about NO RECONSTRUCTION, nor will she ever apologize for the initial false reporting to begin with.
An entire HIT JOB against a Metro project in Mumbai successfully completed.
One one side you have on-ground newspaper reporters doing all the tough work to collate, dig around, and inform.
And on the other side we have these social media champagne charlatans who cannot even copy-paste headlines properly.
Even more sad to see
@nikhilkamathcio back such evil, crooked, compromised dimaagi-naxals who are actively waging an information war against the country.

A problem hugely blown out of proportion.
Ultimately AAI will update the funnel zone. The elevated Metro alignment is away from RW14 approach path, even though a little close-by. Not a big deal, especially considering the secondary runway handles only narrow bodies.
With NMI functional, in case there is a 2019-type Spicejet over-run at RW27, flights can always divert.
Third-rail isn't a solution for the Metro. Line 2/7/9 rolling stock is BEML OHE based and operates out of Malad Depot. AAI will have to make a compromise.
I am just hoping MMRDA holds its position firmly. Never know when their idiot IAS chief decides it is time to float a new destroy and build again contract.
