So it's okay if I just forget to vote?
BREAKING: Labor Premier Ben Carroll felt so entitled that he filled up his tank, drove off, and only “remembered” to pay after Victoria Police got involved.
The Victorian Premier admitted he “forgot” to settle the bill after refuelling late Monday night while running errands in his own car.
Police contacted the Department of Parliamentary Services on Tuesday night. Only then did Carroll’s office sort it out with the servo.
His statement: he “found out yesterday,” fixed it straight away, and is grateful for the staff’s understanding.
When ordinary Victorians forget to pay at the pump, they get a fine or a call from the station.
When a Labor Premier does it, the police call Parliamentary Services and the matter quietly disappears.
This is the same government struggling in the polls and facing the possibility of losing seats on November 28.
Some inside Labor already fear Carroll could lose his own seat of Niddrie held on 6.7%.
Filling up and driving off isn’t a minor admin error when you’re the Premier.
It’s the kind of entitlement that comes from believing the rules are for everyone else.
But I guess he falls under the same umbrella as Anika Wells, if you commit an offence and get caught, you can just “pay it back” and everything’s ok.
