Tesla’s Megapacks are nearly sold out for 2027, and the reason Super Intelligence data centers need these enormous batteries is rather fascinating! 👀🔋
Elon just said Tesla is increasing Megapack production as much as possible, following yesterday’s earnings call where he revealed that demand is already so strong that nearly all of next year’s production is spoken for
Yet why would a data center full of powerful AI computers need giant batteries? 🤔
Well, imagine you’re running thousands of computers simultaneously, training an AI model like Grok
Those computers can suddenly demand enormous amounts of electricity, and then just as quickly, that demand can drop
Meanwhile, the electrical grid has to keep everything balanced, and even brief interruptions can be rather troublesome for equipment doing such intensive work
That’s where Tesla’s Megapacks come in! ✨
They don’t generate electricity themselves, yet rather store energy supplied by the grid, solar panels, or other sources, then release it when needed
Think of them as an enormous electrical shock absorber, helping smooth out sudden changes in demand and providing additional resilience when the power supply is interrupted
Thus as more companies race to build increasingly powerful SI data centers, that kind of infrastructure becomes incredibly valuable
Elon also expects Tesla’s Megapack gross margins to increase meaningfully as production expands
It’s rather interesting that one of the most important pieces of the SI revolution might not be a computer chip at all, but an enormous Tesla battery sitting outside the building! 🤖⚡♡
We are increasing production of Megapacks as much as possible
