as a housing guy, just want to say that a Nithya mayoralty would be transformational for helping unhoused people in LA get off the streets and into permanent housing—her plan is cost-effective, compassionate, and proven in her district. really impressive stuff
This is how I reduced tents, encampments, and RVs in my district by 70%.

Getting money out of politics and taxing the hell out of the people on this list should be the priority of everyone who cares about saving democracy. This is insane.

"93% of the houses occupied in 1940 did not exist in 1880" You may think you've seen a lot of housing permitted near you, but it's nothing compared to the pre-zoning golden age

A reminder that after ED1 started working and actually producing affordable housing, Karen Bass gutted it because it made her rich donors from Sherman Oaks very mad!
The rent is too damn high! That’s why I signed ED1 right when I got into office, to speed up affordable housing. @HugoForCD13 and I have spent the last four years working tirelessly to make life more affordable for Angelenos, and every day we’re making progress.

I hope folks will think about the fact that @HaleyforMI demanded that @AbdulElSayed denounce as antisemitic an ad he was not associated with, but is now endorsing a man who called Abdul a terrorist. She is fine with bigotry and racism as long as its against the right people.
Q: What your message to Democrats who are upset that throughout the primary you said you would endorse the Democratic nominee and are not doing so today? Stevens: I am sorry people are upset. I understand that. I did endorse the Democratic nominee. He chose to say I wasn’t welcome.

ICE should be abolished. Violent, lawless thugs, the lot of them.
A federal immigration agent pulled out a handgun and pointed it just inches from the face of a bystander during an apparent operation in North Hollywood on Friday morning, according to video obtained by The Times. bit.ly/4ByRYnE

This is fascism. Trumpian violence has no place in LA. Please, if you know the victim’s family, DM my office. We want to ensure they have access to County-funded legal representation. ICE: Get the hell out of LA.

"Why do people hate AI?" Because the guys building it don't think you deserve your own computer. They're stealing all of our knowledge, labor, and computing power so they can sell it back to us at a markup.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes people owning RAM is wasteful, and that it belongs in data centers instead. "From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer."

Nithya's takedown of Bass over her (latest) people-mover screwup is 🔥. Just clear, blunt honesty. It captures why I so much prefer her to Bass. Bass sees every problem as a political one, to be ducked, deflected, haggled over in private with local power brokers. Nithya sees them as technical ones to be understood and fixed with clear, accurate action. I've seen this for years: when she stood by dedicated Affordable Housing project in her district after Bass abandoned it amid pressure from HOAs (even though they were approved under her own initiative!). Nithya pushed them forward, though even the developer was a political opponent of hers, because she knew LA residents needed the homes and we would never solve our housing problems without them. We will never solve LA's broken systems unless we have leaders with understanding, vision and courage. We all deserve a city that works. I am proud to vote for one. piped.video/watch?v=LLTmAsNf…

During COVID, I watched Star Trek: TNG and was blown away by how much gravitas and authority Patrick Stewart brought to that show. One of the best to ever grace the screen and stage. May he rest in peace.
Patrick Stewart, an actor known for his roles in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and the "X-Men" film franchise, has died at the age of 86, his family announced Thursday. Stewart died after a "brief and poignant journey" with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia, according to a statement shared on his social media. abcnews.visitlink.me/l7VmjL

Dropped off my ballot for Nithya Raman! I voted for Mayor Bass in 2022. I had high hopes for her, for this City, for change! 😢 Like ~70% of LA voters, I agree we need a new Mayor., especially one that will empower the Controller to audit & investigate fraud, waste, & abuse.

Just last month, DoorDash couldn’t seem to find the money to pay their deliveristas — until our administration forced them to give back $131M+ in stolen wages and penalties. This week, they’ve managed to find $17 billion to acquire one of their main competitors. Corporate consolidation means higher prices, harsher exploitation, and greater economic inequality for New Yorkers. We’ve stood up to these giants before. That doesn’t stop now.
BREAKING: DoorDash just agreed to buy Instacart for $17 billion. Here's what that means for customers and shoppers. apnews.com/article/doordash-…

Since the median home price in LA is ~$1,000,000, it should be noted that "wealthy neighborhoods" in this case applies to pretty much the whole city. Mayor Bass still isn't taking the housing crisis seriously and Nithya Raman is. That's why Nithya has my vote.
L.A.’s mayoral candidates both promise more housing but differ on how. Bass stresses fast-tracked affordable projects and preserving bans on apartments in wealthy neighborhoods, while Raman backs more apartments throughout the city and tenant protections.
