NYU Langone Health @nyulangone is bringing OpenEvidence into the chart, with patient context, for the care teams behind 12.4 million outpatient visits a year.
Patient-aware means a clinician asks a question in Epic and the answer draws on both the peer-reviewed literature and that patient's own record, without leaving the chart. The evidence will be the same in the hospitals and at a community health center in Brooklyn.
New York has always been where American medicine goes to prove itself at scale. The world's medical literature is about to be in the room for every one of those visits.
Great to work w/ @nyuniversity's Jesse Burk-Rafel @jbrafel on @JAMA_current piece on med ed & AI.
Conclusions: divide the world into a) capabilities to newly cultivate; b) old capabilities to emphasize & c) old capabilities to (carefully) deemphasize. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

🚨What if your smartwatch could predict if your arthritis medication is working, weeks before you’d normally find out?
Huge congrats to @SouptikBarua & Dr. Rebecca Haberman, just funded by the National Psoriasis Foundation answer that question👏
How do patients feel about AI writing their portal messages? A study by @_kellie_owens_ in @JAMANetworkOpen found patients prioritize timely responses & problem resolution—and they're open to AI, as long as clinicians review & remain accountable bit.ly/4pd9xEj
#AI scribe adoption across 5 academic centers was associated with modest reductions in EHR and documentation time, plus a slight increase in weekly visit volume, especially for primary care and female clinicians.
