For all the players that follow this account -- don't give your coach a choice in playing you
- get on the floor
- take charges
- offensive rebound
- follow the scout perfectly
- dominate your role
- be a great teammate
- take great shots
- don't turn it over
- be tough
On offense we:
- share the ball at a ridiculous level
- get the right shot at the right time from the right people
- force closeouts and rotations
- space the ball higher and wider
- attack, attack, attack
People should leave gym saying, “Now that’s what a TEAM looks like!”
DRILL: Streaks FTs
- 3 minutes, 1 shooter, 1 rebounder
- Shooter shoots rhythm free throws (no routine; catch and shoot; groove your shot and release)
- Whatever the highest streak during the 3 minutes is...that’s your score
Transition Offense
- win first 3 steps
- outlet deep as possible or dribble blast w/ rebounder
- 3 to baseline ASAP (corners + rim)
- THROW IT AHEAD
- if no throw, cross w/ bounce or pass
- if nothing, play through trail (PNR, screen away, rugby toss, etc)
SPRINT SPREAD SHARE
Lots of theories on shooting - and experts who can go into details on these things - but here is mine:
1 - shoot a ton of shots
2 - shoot it straight
3 - notice and correct your misses (right? left? long? short?)
4 - shoot until it’s right
🏀 SATURDAY HOOPS THREAD - Coaching Quotes from Mike Leach's Book, "Swing Your Sword"
Here are 6 quotes (there are many more in the book) that I highlighted years ago and still find value in:
6/ "Technique is more important than the scheme. You have a chance with whatever you run, if you have great technique. If you have a great scheme but you don’t execute it well, you have no chance.”
It doesn't matter how cute your offense is if they can't do it.
