Proudly working to protect and defend the safety, privacy, consumer rights, civil rights and civil liberties of all Americans. Ranking Member @RepRaskin ⚖

Washington, D.C.
Surprise surprise, Trump’s gilded ballroom is being bankrolled by billionaires, tech giants, and crypto bros in exchange for mega-contracts and MAGA-pardons. As he freely admits, Trump couldn’t care less about the cost of living for Americans or the staggering cost of his family corruption. He’s in business for himself. We have a coin-operated government. washingtonpost.com/investiga…

The Tate brothers continue to rack up more charges for sexual violence and human trafficking. @RepRaskin and @RepYassAnsari are demanding to know when the Trump Administration will finally stop helping these vicious predators dodge justice and evade accountability for their sinister actions.

In Trump’s America, 1-year-old children are expected to represent themselves in immigration court. For years, our government has provided vulnerable kids with basic legal representation. Now Trump Administration is stripping that right away, forcing children to represent themselves in court to drive up Trump’s deportation numbers. nytimes.com/2026/10/15/us/la…

Yesterday, during the No Kings nationwide early voting Day of Action, the group’s Instagram page was taken down for 90 minutes and its administrators were locked out.

@Meta owes the organizers and the American people an explanation of why it silenced No Kings and undermined its Day of Action.

Americans everywhere want the government to work for the people against corporate predators, not for corporate predators against the people. But the Trump Administration has built up a gangster state with illegal catastrophic war, illegal catastrophic tariffs and soaring predatory prices. Meantime, Trump is cashing in on all the corruption to the tune of $1 million an hour.

Kirkland & Ellis is stonewalling our investigation into their corrupt $125 million deal with Trump.   @RepRaskin, @SenBlumenthal and @SenAdamSchiff are calling out Kirkland for refusing to turn over records about their decision to roll over and provide millions of dollars of free legal services to the Administration and MAGA causes.

NEW: @RepRaskin, @SenBlumenthal and @SenAdamSchiff rebuke Kirkland & Ellis for withholding details of $125 million Trump deal.
A trio of Democratic US lawmakers lodged a new request for Kirkland & Ellis to turn over records related to a deal the law firm made with Republican President Donald Trump last year, vowing to press their demands into the next congressional term. reuters.com/legal/government…

Our government is supposed to serve the American people. Under this corrupt president, it instead works in service of Trump, his family and his billionaire friends. The Trump Administration is kicking millions of Americans off their health insurance plans, cutting funding for food and school lunches, and forcing hardworking families to foot the bill for Trump’s disastrous war and chaotic tariffs.

Since the start of the Trump Administration more than 500 innocent U.S. citizens have been illegally detained by Trump’s ICE agents. They’ve been treated like criminals and had their constitutional rights violated. ICE is completely out of control. projects.propublica.org/amer…

Just 22 days before the midterm Congressional elections, federal agents shockingly searched the D.C. home of Rep. Ilhan Omar, a sitting Democratic Member of Congress from Minnesota. According to public reporting, DHS’s laughable excuse for this assault on our constitutional values was that they were looking for fraud in immigration paperwork that Rep. Omar’s late father filled out several decades ago, when Rep. Omar was a child and the family came to America as refugees fleeing the civil war in Somalia.

Rep. Omar has been a naturalized American citizen for decades, and her constituents have overwhelmingly elected her to Congress four times. She has now been made the target of a classic Trump political harassment and frame-up operation during the last three weeks of a Congressional election in which President Trump describes himself as being ‘on the ballot.’   Federal agents appear to have searched a sitting congresswoman’s home not to investigate any real crime or threat, but to carry out a campaign of political retribution against one of President Trump’s most outspoken critics. This kind of presidential harassment and persecution of a political critic is exactly why the Framers wrote the Speech or Debate Clause and the First Amendment—to protect Members of Congress and citizens against petty and vindictive reprisal by the Executive branch.   DOJ violated its own policy, which requires the Department to abstain from overt actions in politically-sensitive matters in the 60 days before an election, to conduct this search. This is no accident. Just 22 days before the elections, this is blatant political intimidation and an attempt to interfere with the Congresswoman’s reelection. It is also the culmination of a smear campaign against Minnesota’s Somali American community.   Rep. Omar now joins the ranks of multiple Democratic Members of Congress who have been targeted by Trump’s vindictive Administration on the most outlandish trumped-up charges, including Rep. Maggie Goodlander, Rep. Jason Crow, Rep. Chris Deluzio, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, Rep. LaMonica McIver, Senator Adam Schiff, Senator Elissa Slotkin, and Senator Mark Kelly. This DOJ routinely harasses Trump’s perceived enemies, including former FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James and my constituent Davey Hearn, a three-time Olympic canoeist framed on utterly bogus charges for turning our Reflecting Pool into an algae farm, which was actually the handiwork of Trump’s $15 million no-bid pool contractor. In none of these cases has the Administration succeeded in doing anything other than wasting taxpayer resources and forcing citizens to waste their own precious time and money defending themselves against bogus charges.   House Judiciary Committee Democrats stand with Rep. Omar against this outrageous abuse of power, and we will be demanding transparency and accountability as to who authorized this abusive search and who carried it out.

Trump has been abandoning and antagonizing our closest democratic allies all while laying out red carpet for dictators and despots.  And Americans are paying the price.

Trump’s DHS INSISTS on returning to a 3,000 ICE daily arrest quota, which has only led to more violence, racial profiling, and due process violations. This Administration continues antagonizing communities by revving up dangerous and chaotic ICE enforcement actions around the country. cnn.com/2026/10/08/politics/…

Why is FBI Director Kash Patel going to Russia to meet with Putin’s Security Service while Russia is in a vicious war against our democratic ally Ukraine and helping Iran kill American soldiers sent to fight as part of Trump’s military “excursion” there? What is the meaning of this extraordinary trip? What security precautions are being taken? RMs @RepRaskin and @Jahimes are working to get to the bottom of it.

Kash Patel is bizarrely cozying up to hostile foreign powers in wartime. Next week, he’s heading to Russia to meet with their intelligence service, FSB, heir to the KGB.
RMs @RepRaskin and @JaHimes are calling on Patel to cancel the trip or appear before Congress to explain it.
