When we started Reach A Hand Uganda in 2011, our mission was simple: empower young people to be the change-makers in their communities. Today, as we’ve grown across 56 districts, challenges have become more complex, shifting global funding threatens SRHR programs, while teenage pregnancy, school dropout, and gender-based violence continue to impact young people. That’s why I’m proud to introduce Reach A Hand Global Inc, our new US-based fundraising arm, a strategic pivot toward sustainability and building stronger global partnerships. Earlier today, we secured a UGX 8 million grant after emerging 2nd at the Uganda Climate Innovation Challenge (UCIC) Final Pitch Event! As Co-Founder, this achievement means so much to me. Today’s #LinkLearnAct webinar on why teenage pregnancy persists in Uganda examined the barriers between reporting abuse and accessing justice. Jennipher Achaloi from @IDLO, Claudia Anzoa from @Uganetlaw, Peninah Susan Igaga from @CEDOVIPuganda and Uwayezu Brenda Kalungi from @HDIRwanda highlighted family settlements, delayed investigations, repeated questioning, weak confidentiality and fragmented referrals. Rwanda’s Isange One-Stop Centres also offered lessons on coordinated, survivor-centred support. Thank you to Elizabeth Kemigisha from @FIDA_Uganda for moderating the discussion.
