I enjoyed Crystal Lake. 7.5/10
While I can understand why some fans have issues with the series, I think overall, this is a great comeback for the Friday the 13th franchise.
Outstanding casting, Linda did an incredible job, some great kills, and they really brought the town and Camp Crystal Lake to life.
I wasn't a fan of some of the changes made in Sweet Revenge, and I'm not a fan of some of the changes made in Crystal Lake either.
However, I understand why they'd want to build a solid foundation when trying to kickstart this franchise again.
At times, it felt like the series was trying to address every plot hole or unanswered question fans might have.
Some of it worked for me, while other parts felt unnecessary. Hearing young Jason talk definitely caught me off guard at first, but it eventually grew on me.
him learn from Ralph how to survive out in the woods was actually a great way to add depth to both characters.
Ultimately, I believe the show did more good than bad. More than anything, I felt like there was genuine effort and good intentions behind this series, and that's something I can appreciate.
They took some swings, tried new things, and actually made an effort to move the franchise and characters I care about forward. Not every decision landed for me, but I respect that they tried.
I've seen a lot of discourse online surrounding the movies versus the show, and I hope most of it comes from a good place. At the end of the day, we're all fans who just want what's best for Friday the 13th.
It's actually pretty fun to have something new and official to talk about in the world of F13 again.
All that to say, I really hope we get a Season 2. Keep this cast, keep building on what you've started.
