46% of enterprise tech buyers say AI is their most-used source when evaluating vendors. Only 33% go directly to a vendor's salesperson. And 86% plan to use AI to speed up their buying decisions. Most enterprise AI is already running with more autonomy than it's earned, and most buyers can't prove otherwise. IDC's Philip D. Harris lays out six non-negotiable conditions, the same six whether you're scoring vendor risk or approving invoices: sustained accuracy, statistically significant volume, zero critical overrides, audit trail integrity, explainability, and a scope bounded to exactly what's been demonstrated.
