Thoroughly enjoyed my discussion last week with Emmanuel Moulin of @banquedefrance, Martin Schlegel of @SNB_BNS, and @olayemicardoso1 on central bank decision-making. From committee design to transparency and communication, different approaches offer valuable lessons.

Sub-Saharan Africa’s growth remains resilient but uneven. The IMF projects growth of 4.5% in 2026 and 2027, while median inflation rises to 4.3% this year. Policies should ensure price stability and rebuild buffers, while supporting vulnerable households. imf.org/en/publications/reo/…
All my gratitude to the Thai authorities, their staff, and the many dedicated volunteers who made the Annual Meetings in Bangkok such a resounding success.
A pleasure to end my engagements in Bangkok by sharing my thoughts with representatives of the Thai media. My deepest gratitude to all of them for taking our Meetings into homes across the country.
A pleasure to meet with Bundesbank President Nagel today. We discussed the global outlook, Europe’s economic challenges and opportunities, and the importance of cooperation to promote economic growth and stability.
Global financial markets face growing risks from AI, bond yields, and cyberattacks. As vulnerabilities increase, policymakers should contain leverage, strengthen debt sustainability, and harden cyber defenses.

1/3 Growth in Latin America and the Caribbean remains resilient, projected at 2.3% in 2026, 2.5% in 2027, and 2.9% in 2028. Strong U.S. demand, high commodity prices, favorable financial conditions, tourism, and remittances are offsetting trade and geopolitical pressures.
2/3 But challenges remain:
➡️Higher energy and food prices have interrupted disinflation
➡️High and rising public debt limits policy space
➡️Trade shifts bring opportunities, but rising Asian imports are intensifying competition
➡️Productivity growth remains persistently weak
3/3 To turn these tailwinds into lasting gains, the region needs cautious monetary easing, renewed efforts to reduce deficits and debt, and a stronger reform push to raise investment and productivity.
