There is no Day 1 patch to save a rushed physical game, and that’s part of its beauty.
I’m currently running playtests for Flow, and it’s been incredibly interesting to watch people experience the game for the first time. 🎮 A public demo is coming very soon!
📊 At the same time, I’m doing a full stability pass across the game.
A script tracks CPU usage to identify screens where the game could potentially drop a frame. If it goes over 100%, I get a big “TASK OVER!!” on screen.
(a little tribute to my teenage years breaking KOF)
I’m testing worst-case scenarios area by area and optimizing routines one by one.
The goal is simple: 0 frame drops during gameplay.
I know some people probably wonder why certain things take me so long, but I can’t allow myself to settle for less. Being on the NES doesn’t excuse slowdown.
I also want the engine and its core routines to reach a state I can fully trust, so anything I build on top of it in the future starts from a clean and stable foundation.
You can’t predict everything, but you can do everything you can before the game reaches the player. Playtesting continues level by level while I polish everything as much as possible.
✨ We’re in the final stretch! ✨
