Even AI knows this is wrong. IUHPE need to start apologising, not whitewashing its own history of inequity.
Well this is exciting!

Will the 2028 conference be open to, and inclusive of, everyone? Or will IUHPE fail to learn from the hurt it caused in 2025? A sincere apology is needed before this next event. #IUHPE2025 ➡️ #IUHPE2028

In the UAE, political activists are denied basic health care. Is this health promotion? The International Union of Health Promotion and Education says yes, weirdly #IUHPE2025
Ghazwan Abdel-Jeleel, a Canadian citizen, was imprisoned for 10 months in #AbuDhabi without trial or conviction, denied medical care for diabetes & PTSD, exposing the #UAE’s blatant disregard for due process and basic human rights.@NicholasCoghlan @PTaneyCityNews @PatrickHeinisc1

The authoritarian government of the UAE is a questionable but valued partner of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education. IUHPE’s engagement with this regime endorses massive human rights violations #IUHPEsucks #IUHPE2025
I strongly condemn the UAE's actions in Sudan, which have caused immense harm to innocent ppl. I'm appalled by those who prioritize political gain over human rights and dignity, choosing to overlook the UAE's war crimes in Sudan. It's essential to hold those in power accountable

IUHPE Executive Board knew exactly what they were doing, when they partnered with an authoritarian regime with no regard for humans rights. Shame on you, IUHPE! #IUHPE2025 @ADNECGroup @adphc_ae
The #UAE doesn’t just repress dissent at home — it’s one of the countries expanding repression beyond its borders.
Human rights organizations have documented this growing pattern of transnational repression.
The UAE is considered one of the most dangerous countries in the Middle East when it comes to targeting exiles and political refugees.
What happened to the poet Abdulrahman Al-Qaradawi — forcibly deported from Lebanon to the UAE and disappeared since January — marks a dangerous precedent.
🛑 It reveals how far authoritarian repression can reach.

Shame on the UAE government 👎
My response? I won’t spend a single dollar there. No more Emirates flights, no visits, no business, nothing. This is the same government that forced late Arshad Sharif to leave their country in a hurry, which ultimately led to his murder in Kenya.
If you’re investing in the UAE or planning to move there, just know you’re giving up your intellectual freedom, the most valuable thing any person owns.
Now they’ve gone even lower by arresting two Pakistani social media activists who had nothing to do with UAE politics. Clearly, the UAE is now a willing tool for Pakistan’s illegal regime. It’s disgraceful.
Boycott Dubai. Boycott the UAE 🇦🇪

Repressive autocracy ≠ World leaders in health promotion. Shame on you, IUHPE. #IUHPE2025
The UAE is a highly repressive autocracy that subjects women to various rights abuses and also sponsors the RSF, a genocidal militia responsible for widespread sexual violence against Sudanese women and girls.
Holding it up as some kind of beacon of women's rights is absurd.

A) He’s not a professor.
B) @ItahiTu has led IUHPE into the trash can. He personally orchestrated the demise of IUHPE by abandoning its values, partnering with human rights violators, and throwing colleagues under the bus. A traitor to health promotion #IUHPE2025
As part of #IUHPE2025, Professor Sione Tu’itahi, Global President of the IUHPE, and Joseph Kahulukula, Professor and Chair at the University of Hawaii took part in the global conference’s sessions aimed at exchanging knowledge and experiences among health promotion experts.

A major breakthrough: we must “raise awareness” of diseases everyone already knew existed. Is this the best health promotion can achieve? Some poor ideas churned out from #IUHPE2025.
The partnership aims to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease, strengthen prevention efforts, and improve disease management practices across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Human rights are not a crime: a shame IUHPE couldn’t figure this out before partnering with ADPHC. #IUHPE2025
In UAE, speaking out for human rights leads to punishment & imprisonment, silencing courageous voices of conscience. They aren't criminals but heroes advocating for justice.
Human rights are not a crime. Staying silent is complicity. #FreeUAEPrisoners

Is this being discussed at #IUHPE2025? Or are critical voices not allowed?
🟧 Behind the glitter and shine of the UAE is a truth the world can’t ignore — peaceful voices of conscience locked away for speaking out.
Writers, lawyers, and reformers are tortured and isolated simply for demanding justice and basic rights.
They stood up. Now it’s our turn.
✊🏽 We won’t stay silent. We stand with every prisoner of conscience!

How do these line up with health promoting values? #IUHPE2025 endorses human rights violations in the UAE.
It is illegal to be gay and trans in Abu Dhabi, and women have to sometimes ask a male guardian for approval for some things. I am all about global connection, but how does this lineup with Disney’s values?

To build a park in the UAE where they’re known for their human rights abuses and human slavery to build their cities…yeah that’s a big yikes
