I'm 25.
4 years ago I quit my 6-figure engineering job.
But today, I run a 6-figure one-person business.
I started with no skills, experience, or connections.
8 of the greatest lessons I learned:
1) Success is about survival. If you can stay in business for 1 extra year, you just increased your odds of success by 80%.
2) Nobody is coming to save you. Not your family, not your friends, not your teachers, not your employer. You have to save yourself. Create your own work, build your own products, sell your own products.
3) Learn how to write. Writing is how you think, how you speak, how you solve problems, understand your subconscious mind, make sense of the world, understand ideas, build products, and sell. If you can write well, you're set for life.
4) Get comfortable with failure. It's through failure that you learn, gain experience, knowledge, and wisdom. The people who fail the most before they succeed can actually see the value in what they have.
5) Be selective with whom you share your goals and dreams with. Not everyone needs to know what you're doing. Most people won't get what you're trying to do. They can't see the vision you have. Telling them about your goals will just add more pressure on you. Share what you've built after it succeeded, before that, keep it low-key.
6) Don't look to compete, look to cooperate. Business is a positive-sum game. The pie is big enough for everyone. Look for win-win situations between you and the people in your space.
7) Nobody cares about your potential, degrees, or education. People only care about what you can actually do. The more value you can bring to the table, the more people want to work with you.
8) Be genuine. There are so many grifters and scammers on social media. If you can be genuine with others, help them because you want to see them succeed, speak to people because you're genuinely interested in them and want to be friends with them is the easiest and fastest way to succeed.
Hope this helps.
Take care,
Hussain
