Starting with an organism she already knew, Shahira developed Drosie the Fly, using storytelling and hands-on activities to introduce children to biology, genetics and scientific observation. A pilot programme reached 79 children aged five to ten.
Her experience highlights the value of starting small, working with teachers, testing ideas through pilots and adapting outreach to different learners and contextsβincluding language and resource availability.
