Statement by H.E. Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa and Chairperson of SADC, on SADC Anti-sanctions Day for the lifting of Sanctions on the Republic of Zimbabwe. "SADC remains resolute in calling for the complete lifting of sanctions against the Republic of Zimbabwe and will pursue this cause with the utmost commitment, in the true spirit of regionalism and collective regional integration. Such integration should support all Member States in achieving prosperity, particularly since sanctions against Zimbabwe are essentially sanctions against the entire SADC region."

"Regional integration is key to our development aspirations. Through SADC and COMESA, opportunities are numerous to expand markets, improve regional connectivity and strengthen cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, energy and infrastructure. Zimbabwe's role within regional institutions, will therefore, continue to support practical outcomes that benefit businesses, farmers, workers and consumers across our nation and the broader SADC region. As SADC, there is need to increase intra-regional trade in both goods and services, while also scaling up investments that advance value addition and beneficiation to retain maximum value at source within our communities. We must move decisively to ensure that the benefits of regional integration reach every citizen, leaving no one and no place behind," H.E President Mnangagwa #ZimSanctionsMustGo

"The theme for this year's commemorations, "Leveraging Regional Integration and Global Partnerships for Economic Transformation Beyond Illegal Sanctions," is pertinent to our national development aspirations. Guided by the philosophy that "Zimbabwe is a friend to all and an enemy to none", we are strengthening diplomatic relations, broadening international engagement, and pursuing economic transformation through a responsive national development agenda. Our country's election to the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 period and assumption of the Chairmanship of the COMESA provide important platforms to deepen regional cooperation, advance multilateral engagement and mobilize partnerships that support our development priorities," H.E President Mnangagwa #ZimSanctionsMustGo

"Fellow Zimbabweans. We convene today to commemorate a decision born out of regional solidarity, unity and shared responsibility of the SADC family. Seven vears ago, at the 39th SADC Summit held in the United Republic of Tanzania, the Region declared the 25th of October as S ADC Anti-Sanctions Day. Today, therefore, we accordingly demand the immediate and unconditional lifting of these heinous and uniustified illegal unilateral sanctions. These measures, have no place in a progressive world and continue to impede the country's economic development, undermine access to international finance and investment as well as our full participation in global trade. Sanctions not only punish our country, but the entire SADC family and infringe Zimbabwe's role in advancing an integrated Africa," His Excellency President Mnangagwa #ZimSanctionsMustGo
