Our research shows doctors and local TV news are two groups the public trusts most for health information. One implication: mobilize local docs on local tv news to counter health misinformation. My latest column: kff.org/health-reform/perspe…

I can’t quite put into words how frustrating it is that so many people express so much (seemingly genuine) concern about the dangers of disinformation, but then continue to amplify the most egregiously unreliable narrators — as if those two things are totally unrelated.

Great to see KFF’s Dr. Celine Gounder elected to NAM today. As a longtime NAM member, I welcome her knowing she will add great expertise and new perspectives to the Academy, with a focus on public and global health, and on populations in greatest need.

To better understand the full scope of health misinformation today, we have to look deeper at how communities of color and rural groups are affected. Our role is to examine the sources and impact, providing more transparency to the issue. kff.org/coronavirus-covid-19…

Having trouble finding a doctor? Primary care is the foundation of any good health care system. But In the US that foundation is dangerously eroding, as doctors and med students flee the field. Here's why. @KFFHealthNews @PostOpinions washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

Growing research shows extreme heat disproportionately affects historically marginalized groups. American Indian and Alaska Native people were most likely to die due to heat vs. other racial/ethnic groups. Black people had a higher rate of heat-related deaths than White people.

KFF New Pilot Survey: At least 4 in 10 people have heard major false claims about COVID-19 & more. Few firmly believe these myths, yet many remain uncertain—landing in a "muddled middle".
Replying to @KFF
The misinformation examined in KFF’s survey includes claims about vaccines, reproductive health, and gun violence. The survey also gauges people’s trust in various sources of health information. See the full findings: bit.ly/3OMsUlt

For my journo folks headed to #ONA23. Traditional news present opportunities : Local TV (80%), national news (72%), & local newspapers (72%) most trusted for health info. For social side, 24% turn to platforms weekly for health insights, but trust low—52% YouTube, less for others
