this headline is incredibly misleading
the study did NOT find that ultra-processed foods have no link to colorectal cancer. it found no significant association when ALL ultra-processed foods were lumped together
in the study, some ultra processed foods were associated with higher cancer incidence, and replacing some ultra-processed foods with minimally processed alternatives was associated with lower incidence
they also measured people's diets only once, 30 years ago, among adults aged 50–71
so no, this study tells nothing about what's driving the rise in colorectal cancer among young people today
but sure, "no link"
A large study finds no link between colorectal cancer and ultra-processed food, raising questions about what role these foods play, if any, in rising rates of the cancer among younger people.
