I see pitchers who look unbelievable with plyos, med balls, constraint drills, etc.
Then they get on the mound…
…and everything disappears.
That doesn’t mean the drill didn’t work….It means you haven’t finished the transfer.
A drill removes variables.
The mound adds them back.
Now the athlete has to manage:
• a leg lift
• forward momentum
• timing
• direction
• ground force
• rotation
• arm action
• intent
• AND throwing a baseball to a target
All at once.
So if you’re chasing a mechanical change, don’t jump from:
Drill → 100% mound
Build the bridge.

Competition
The real test of a mechanical change isn’t whether it looks good during the drill.
It’s whether the athlete can keep it when velocity, intent, a hitter and competition are added back in.
That’s motor mapping…
Don’t become great at drills….Use drills to become better at pitching
