I know it’s killed a lot of media businesses and I don’t want what I’m about to say to make light of that. But I’m glad SEO is dying and Google has only themselves to blame for it. The AI-in-search product is terrible, often wrong, and it’s because Gemini models suck.

Before AI, SEO already was a race to the bottom. Then Google used the best-on-the-internet indexing tools to scrape and train Gemini. The funny part is because SEO incentivized low-effort content, Gemini is now chock-full of garbage & incorrect information. One slop to another.

signs that your SaaS is vulnerable to be displaced: > unspecialized software > lack of focus from team / founder > minimal domain expertise on the team > price is the only differentiator > no proprietary data or network effects > zero switching costs > it's a feature, not a platform > zero brand equity > no relationships outside the codebase (partners, providers, industry) > non-existent support shoutout to @ahmedgagan11 for identifying an opportunity and crushing the launch πŸŽ‰
Introducing DataBull πŸŽ‰ I was paying $39/mo for DataFast just to see which posts made me money. That's $468 a year. Forever. And it goes up as your traffic grows. So I built my own. Same idea: revenue by traffic source. $29 lifetime. Unlimited sites. Unlimited events. Lifetime updates. > databull.app

It's pretty wild how twice, relatively right before the holidays, Anthropic's released a revolutionary model. Last year Opus 4.5 gave a lot of engineers AI psychosis during the Christmas break. I recognize Opus 5.5 will do the same for the non-believers this Thanksgiving.

I still don't love how inventive and verbose the Claude models are, but Opus 5.5 is no doubt a transformative model for engineers. I don't like to plan big features with any other model right now. It catches so many edge cases that a human would miss. Great model.

We do have a monorepo at beehiiv that includes a lot of things related to the main admin app + the publication websites. But now that I’m using @t3dotcodes a lot, I have a project folder that includes all of beehiiv’s apps. That’s been the most helpful so far.
i think i kept seeing people say "monorepos are good for agents" but we just switched to multi repos. i have a hard time caring about the benefits of monorepos anymore

I cannot believe I get to type these words, but.. I have a new title 🀯 🀯 🀯 You're looking at the newest Creator in Residence @beehiiv But.. what heck is this? Well, I'll be: ~ creating long-form educational videos for youtube ~ sharing my journey building Generalist World to 55,000+ subscribers ~ getting to help LOTS of folks build indie, profitable businesses with a newsy at the centre It's a fractional gig that I'll do on the side of my GW work :) truly building out that portfolio career life! πŸŒ€ And while update is ofc fun for me, I think it reallyyy matters for *everybody* because this role didn't exist even a year ago. I didn't apply for it. I didn't send them a CV. I didn't "interview". I've been a super-fan of the product for years, we built a genuine(!) relationship, and then shaped a role around it. If you're looking for the sign to start that newsletter / podcast / digi product.. you know who to come chat to! πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

ADHD is so unfair. Especially the apathy symptoms. It’s wild how quickly they subside once I take my Vyvanse every morning and it kicks in 90 minutes later. Just a level of self-determination that I can’t muster any other way.

Imagine telling John Carreyrou (!) that he missed the point of a movie about Elizabeth Holmes. John might understand You Can See Everything more deeply than Nathan Fielder himself. Reading Bad Blood is borderline essential for audiences wrestling with their own interpretations.
A few readers have taken me to task for β€œmissing the point of the film,” which is apparently that Elizabeth Holmes is unknowable and everything is ambiguous. Here’s my response: She went after Tyler Shultz and Erika Cheung with everything she had. I was threatened with litigation on a daily basis for months on end. It was a ruthless cover-up of a breathtaking fraud, and she was at the controls. Just a little context for those who have forgotten or didn’t follow the original story. By the way, I loved the film. #BestPicture, IMO.
