-Items should be locally made or produced by local companies
-Pittsburgh-themed items made elsewhere are also accepted
-Makers/sellers should be able to fill several dozen orders at a minimum (items often sell out)

Scirotto called his deal with Gainey re: returning to NCAA reffing after one year an incentived "man-to-man agreement," and therefore one the public didn't need to know about. The more details that come out, the worse both he and the mayor look. Fully embarrassing for the city.
In an epic feat of self-sabotage, I bought a 36-pack of my absolute favorite candy, Giant Chewy SweeTarts, and only one kid has taken a pack. It’s over for me 😭😭😭😭
Reading this passage in an Auschwitz survivor’s book that is required reading for my current grad class was honestly so chilling this particular morning. Wow.
We have been hard at work building the Remains to be Seen app which will map out Pittsburgh's history for you and allow you to build walking/biking tours. As we gear up for beta testing, tell me what features you would most want. Give me your ideas and be specific, loves!
Also, when I stopped updating the website map to focus on the mobile app version, there were about 50 items on the map. We are nearly at 200 now and have so many more coming!
Remember how I wanted to build customizable walking (and biking) tours into the Remains to be Seen project? Well, look at that! We can’t wait to put this app in Pittsburgh locals’ and visitors’ hands! Will need beta testers soon. Let’s hug! 🖤💛
With Antonio Brown using the childish Tampon Tim nickname, Le’Veon Bell—reportedly with 7 kids to 6 mothers—calling Kamala Harris a tramp, and Donald Trump talking about Arnold Palmer’s genitalia, Pittsburgh’s intersection with the election of 2024 is honestly so embarrassing.
Also visited Spaceburgh in Market Square today. Lots of cool stuff and look at the free mission patches they gave away! A great day in downtown Pittsburgh.
Walking around downtown with my teen daughter taking present-day photos of artifacts for Remains to be Seen:
Me: “Just need the Fort Pitt block house and that’s it.”
Her: “That’s it, Fort Pitt!”
Me, earnestly: “I have never been more proud of you.”
My kids (my daughter doesn’t allow me to share her pic online) and my city. A gorgeous night to celebrate my son’s birthday with dinner on Mt. Washington while watching the full moon rise over the skyline.
There is an illegal dump site in Spring Hill that @AlleghenyCW is tackling again now that it’s fall and easier to see the trash. Please lend a hand next weekend! We need help!

Had dinner at Dorothy 6 in Homestead tonight and it is so great. Fantastic beet salad and Reuben to eat. Lovely atmosphere. And look at the bar with the logos of our industrial past. Not an ad!
Super in love with this photo of Pittsburghers following along with game 3 of the World Series via a "live" scoreboard on the steps of the City County Building on October 3, 1919.

Pittsburghers, share far and wide!
Each year, Mission of Mercy takes over the Convention Center to provide on-the-spot dental care, eye exams, eyeglasses, hearing exams, HEARING AIDS. ALL FREE!
If you can, volunteer! If you need, do not suffer; go! mompgh.org/
I no longer understand why I was resistant to the idea of adding present day photos of the Remains to be Seen artifacts. We are building them into the app and it looks so cool. Snagged this one yesterday in Forest Hills. Are there plans to preserve it? I hope so.
When you get invited to an art opening at @TheWestmoreland and you sneak up to the galleries while everyone is still mingling, it’s peaceful like a church and you get a mini strings serenade all to yourself. Anila Quayyum Agha’s work is exquisite. Art+light. Not an ad!
Was in Allegheny Cemetery today for research and I happened to park next to one of the coolest gravestones. Made to look like a flag is draped over it. Zoom in to see stars and stripes. (Killed by lightning/father of famed aviator/grandson of Commodore Perry)
I have been hunting for two years for a photo, ANY PHOTO, showing Pittsburgh's response to the pandemic of 1918. A nurse. A mask. A row of beds. I finally found it today thanks to the Black nurses who staffed the emergency influenza hospital in Duquesne. I may cry from happiness.
After 1,000 days, I love what Duolingo has done to rewire my brain so that my ears are being pushed toward higher limits of their ability. I had no idea that’s something that would happen but I’m glad I pushed through those first frustrating weeks.
사랑해, @duolingo! 🫰🏼
11 years ago tonight. Stressed-out me and my dad (behind me) at the 2013 Wild Card game. One of the best nights of my life. Will never forget walking back across the packed Clemente Bridge after the win. As fans, we deserve more of this.
For something I'm working on, I used AI to see if it could sharpen a video grab of Franco Harris catching the Immaculate Reception ball, and when I tell you it failed, I mean it failed so hard it gave him eyeglasses. The disrespect!
Had a fun time visiting the Newcomers book club in the South Hills tonight! They had so many great questions about my book and gave me a basket of fantastic local products. ❤️
While working on my thesis on Pittsburgh's response to the 1918 pandemic, I'll read a 1918 article about symptoms/mortality thinking it will be a useful source, only to get to the end and it was really just a disguised ad for "medicinal" whiskey. What a time to have lived.
I accidentally stumbled on this pic of the iconic Jackie Gleason "warming up the crowd" prior a Pirates game at Forbes Field in 1963. I love it very much. Via Getty.
The last time I said this I had members of both councils ask me for meetings. Guess what came out of those convos? Nothing. So please don’t reach out to me now unless you have some receipts of some action you’ve taken. Otherwise …
Came across the new Thaddeus Mosley sculpture installation today. The man is almost 100 years old and remains a force in Pittsburgh’s art world. Penn & 8th in Cultural District
I don't mind b/c we need to take care of our roads, but I fear the next one I'll need to delete is the old Brady St. Bridge railing now on South Side near the T. It's in a bad state of disrepair and I don't know how much longer it will last. @PGHtransit
For the first time, I have to REMOVE an item from the Remains to be Seen map. The old trolley tracks on Chestnut, for which I amazingly found a historical pic including photographer/camera, are gone and the road has been rebricked. Where are other still-visible trolley tracks?
I’ve seen the Remains to be Seen app in action and it’s so perfect and beautiful and I am not doing okay seeing something I created out of love for my city’s history becoming something we will all be able to hold in our hands and explore. Let’s hug
US Steel might leave and now Carnegie’s name is coming off of the Science Center for real. My poor Pittsburgh history-loving heart is hurting a bit.
🖤💛
I had a great time giving a “trash talk” at the sold-out Alta Via event for @AlleghenyCW last night! Doing everything I can to use my platform to help improve the litter problem in Pittsburgh. 🖤💛
North Shore was bananas this morning, and prob still is, due in part to Burghers flocking to see the USS LST-325 that was on the beach in Normandy during the WWII D-Day operation. It’s quite a sight!
I'll never understand how anyone can think studying history is boring because how else are you going to stumble upon the perfect email signature in a 1780 letter from James Madison to Thomas Jefferson, writing, "...I look forward with the most pungent apprehensions."
It’s rare that me and my gorgeous sisters are all together, dressed up and not a one of us blinking in the photo. A perfect night for a wedding in the Carnegie museum. Andrew gave us such a beautiful building.
Spent some time this morning in the Hill District cleaning litter along Center Avenue and the Watt St steps with @AlleghenyCW. I almost picked up a decent sized snake so that’s the screaming you heard 😂😂😂. Please volunteer to help us soon!
