This whole Josh Simmons situation has seemed strange to me since last season. I never want to question another man's medical situation, but anybody who's played this game knows there's a difference between being hurt and being injured. Playing through discomfort comes with the territory. That's just the reality of football.
I'm not saying that's his situation, but something about how all of this has unfolded just hasn't added up to me.
As far as people criticizing the local media for not breaking this story first, I think they're looking at it wrong. My suspicion is that somebody high up in the Chiefs organization intentionally leaked this to national media.
Local reporters likely had their suspicions but couldn't get confirmation, so they did what responsible journalists are supposed to do. They didn't run with an unconfirmed story.
The Chiefs don't typically operate like this, which makes the timing and who received the information even more interesting. To me, this feels less like a leak and more like a message being sent. And I don't think that part should be overlooked.
Terez Paylor crawled so guys like Nate Taylor could get to ESPN and do pods with Josh Briscoe where they spend 25 minutes discussing how Briscoe’s mom is hot and we are shocked that the local coverage offers nothing of value.
