It was a beautiful morning for the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope as it lifted off aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The observatory has begun its cruise to the Sun-Earth L2 Lagrange point, situated roughly one million miles (1.5 million kilometers) from Earth on the side opposite the Sun. End of an era 🚀
This morning’s @SpaceX mission from pad 40 was the last planned Falcon 9 Starlink launch from Florida (and it launched on the fleet leading booster!!), marking the end of an era for these launches on the East Coast. From here on, Starlink missions out of Florida will fly on Starship. The West Coast team will continue regularly launching Starlink from Vandenberg.   Super proud of this incredible team. You’ve made Falcon 9 the most reliable launch vehicle in history. You also helped build the largest low-Earth orbit satellite constellation providing connectivity to millions around the world, and you’ve set the foundation for what’s next.   In the last seven years, Falcon has flown ~260 Starlink missions from the Cape… can’t wait until we launch that and many more with Starship!

The SpaceX Recovery team is still working to recover Flight 13’s Starship from the Indian Ocean. They’ve been overcoming challenging conditions and increasingly rough seas as they attempt to guide the 52m long spacecraft to port

🫡 to Booster 1069 We refer to 1069 as the OG tippy rocket. It lived a long and fruitful life after it came about as close as you can get to being lost on its first mission. On that mission, CRS-24, it landed in rough seas and immediately had severe uneven leg loads, causing it to “tip.” We spent the next two hours watching the rocket on camera literally dance from side to side on the droneship. Through the incredible skill of our @SpaceX recovery team and a decent amount of luck, we were able to pin the rocket against the droneship tow board and blast wall with the octagrabber jammed under the engines. Somehow, against all odds, the team got 1069 home. We replaced all nine engines that were damaged in the process… and then it flew another 31 successful missions!!! 🚀 Never. Give. Up.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 launches from Cape Canaveral, sending Northrop Grumman’s MRV-1 (Mission Robotic Vehicle) and three Mission Extension Pods into orbit. Equipped with dual robotic arms, the spacecraft can dock with, inspect, and install life-extending propulsion systems on aging client satellites. Reporting for @SuperclusterHQ

The Falcon 9 first stage that supported this mission, B1069, made its final flight, as the booster was expended due to the geosynchronous transfer orbit required for the mission. Over the course of four and a half years, B1069 launched a total of 32 missions, including CRS-24, Eutelsat HOTBIRD 13F, OneWeb 1, SES-18 and SES-19, MRV-1, and 27 Starlink missions. Farewell, B1069. 🫡

It's been a while since a record-breaking booster was talked about, so I wanted to come and visit beautiful Falcon 9 first stage B1067, which returned this morning after a successful 36th mission! Since its first flight in June 2021, this booster has supported CRS-22, Crew-3, Türksat 5B, Crew-4, CRS-25, Eutelsat HOTBIRD 13G, SES O3b mPOWER-A, PSN SATRIA, Telkomsat Merah Putih 2, Galileo, Koreasat-6A, and now 25 Starlink missions. How many missions do you think it'll complete before it's expended or retired? Reporting for @SuperclusterHQ
